Dodgen MS (DMS) Student Council??


What is Student Council?
Student Council is a student-based civic organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students.
Students participating in all levels of the council will maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Council members will
demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behavior through their words and actions.

DMS Student Council Purpose


To plan special events and projects that promote healthy and kind relationships within our school
To enhance school morale and student/faculty communications
To provide a forum for student expression

Who Can Participate?

The DMS Student Council will consist of students in grades 6-8. Students must complete an application. One
student from each homeroom will be chosen, based on the eligibility requirements. The executive committee is
then selected from the classroom representatives.

We are looking for some dynamic, enthusiastic, reliable, and committed students to be a part of the DMS Student
Council for this school year. Qualities necessary for any member on student council are:

Leadership skills willing to lead committees and be a representative for your class

Creativity ability to think of new and exciting activities and fundraisers for the DMS Student Council

Communicative able to share ideas with other student council members, your class, and Dodgen

Team player work with a team to generate ideas and organize events for the DMS Student Council

Responsibility responsible for planning and implementing activities throughout the school, and you
must be reliable

Commitment expected to attend all meetings and participate in DMS Student Council activities

Eligibility Requirements

You must maintain at least a C average in each class, with NO Fs each nine weeks.

You must maintain a good standard of citizenship no Us in conduct and no more than 1 N.

You must be willing to give of your time and effort whenever needed.

You must serve as a positive role model to other students at Dodgen

by having a positive attitude, and

by following ALL school/teacher rules

Benefits of Participating
Students should consider this an extra-curricular activity because it helps develop character, leadership, responsibility,
and decision making and organizational skills.

When & Where Does The Club Meet?


The DMS Student Council will meet once a month before school at 8:15 a.m. (dates to be determined). Students joining
the student council will be supervised by Mrs. Gatlin and Mrs. Bruce (school counselors).
Applications
Applications will be available in each homeroom class the week of October 10, 2016.
Application deadline will be October 17, 2016.
