th 1, Meeting called to order and attendance taken. The Minutes from the last meeting on January 18 were read and the following corrections were made: a. The Botanical Garden Orchid Show is on February 27 and 28, and not on February 20. b. Vicky Lockey, the orchid lady did her presentation on Tuesday after hotdogs and not on Wednesday. Motion was made by Dolores to accept the corrected minutes and seconded by Joyce Braungart and passed. 2. Old Business: a. Major Event: Kathy Bisonic passed out an informative sheet with photos about the Greased Lightening event, which everyone agreed was fabulous. The event netted over $2,000 and was a great success. b. Recruiting new members: The event on 1/25/16 brought eleven new members, and Jolene now states there are three more for a total th of fourteen. They will all be invited to the social gathering at Jolene's house on February 9 . Peggy and Margaret will supply the wine for that event, and there will be finger food . Jolene made a motion to create a position called Membership Chairman. Kathy seconded the motion. Jolene made another Motion to restrict our membership to thirty-five. Gail seconded the motion. c. Bake sale: Jolene stated she has turned over the bake sale program to Joyce B. New members will be encouraged to bake and a new bake and work schedule will be established. Both motions were carried. d. Memory Garden: Dolores reported that the raffle took in $785 but we don't have the winners' choices yet. Someone needs to take over that job as well. She also reported that they have changed the application form for the brick orders. I It would be better to ask for orders st st by February 1 so they would be received by March 1 . e. Education/Social Events: The Botanical Garden Orchard Show is on February 27and 28. Gail is in charge and said she can preorder box lunches. Three choices were made. She had arranged for the lunch to be on Friday at 1:30 but it was questioned if it would be better on Saturday. Gail is to check if that's possible and let us know. f Policy on Reimbursement: Peggy distributed the reimbursement policy to each member. She also informed everyone that the Garden Club purchased another Christmas tree in December for the DCH. g. Garden Club Logo: The logo chosen can now be used on emails, flyers, posters, etc. Dominique is to get us prices for putting it on aprons, hats, tees, etc. h. Miscellaneous: i Peggy reminded everyone that we need to check plants even if it rains, as some are under eaves or trees and might not get the rain. Some of the plants need to be replaced, and Gail suggested that we buy plants that need less maintenance and don't litter the pools. 3. A new watering schedule is to be drawn with the new members. Chautzie is the Chairman of Watering and Claire and Barb offered to help her with that. An email will go out with the new schedule. With the new members involved, each member shouldn't have to water so often. . A new member should be paired with an old member. Jolene made a Motion to exclude Peggy, Margaret and Joyce rom the watering detail. Seconded by Kathy and approved. A discussion took place about the watering issue before and after season. The committee will explore options for coverage during that time as well as the holiday season. Doris Mardeness takes care of the plants until November 1 and starts again May 1. Doris is to be asked if she would do it during the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Years as well. It was suggested that maybe Doris might know someone who could help her. Diane Giles has asked if she could be a 'friend of the Garden Club' and that she can continue to do the Christmas decorations that the Garden Club had purchased. There was also a discussion about the lack of maintenance of the new plantings at the DCH. Jeff has been notified by several members with no results. It was suggested that a letter be composed and sent to the Board to have this added to the agenda at the next Board meeting on February th 18 . 4
