On the first day I thought we gave ourselves more time but we needed to arrive a little bit earlier to set up. We gave out a lot of waivers the week or two before but still many unexpected participants showed up. Which is great because the more the merrier but we should of planned on more because we had to rearrange and figure out a few more things on the spot because we werent prepared for that many. We needed to plan out drills and activities for a Group A(bigger) and a Group B(smaller) and plan for different sizes.
Things that went really well and could be implemented again:
We had the older girls and the younger girls split up during drills like 12 and 11 th graders and then 8th, 9th and 10th which was working pretty well. Then once we did more sections we were able to split it up by ability which was much better because everyone was in a good spot to be pushed to their abilities. And the ones that werent as good we got to go over more drills and techniques so it was beneficial to all. Working with only right side, outsides or middles and more individual positions helped a lot because they were able to learn little strategies to make their jobs easier. There were 3-5 coaches roaming the courts or with certain courts at each time which was super necessary for all participants to get the help and critique that is needed. I think we planned a good amount of technique drills and implementing drill because sometimes they can become tedious. We started our the camp with technique, skills and drills. Then we ended with drills and more of playing games against each other to implement real game situations and how to improve the skills of that. I thought it went really smoothly and was a good transition so that everyone was able to participate and have fun and get the most out of it.
