school asap. They are then scheduled to be sent home next week Friday, November 25th. Earlier that same day, we hope to sing at
Bethesda from 10:30 to 11:00. We have been busy finishing off units and beginning new ones which brings some extra busyness,
but we hope that we as staff and students alike may take the time to seek for that one thing needful.

this, we will also be learning more about increasing patterns, 3-digit numbers with base 10 blocks, measuring and estimating
lengths in centimetres, and about calendars.

Writing: A picture is worth a thousand words. Our new unit is picture writing, in which we will look at what is hap-
pening in a picture, plan it, and write a story Our focus for the next few weeks will be IDEAS. Students will learn the
difference between details and juicy details. We will be experiencing how our 5 senses are included in juicy details.
Heres an example of detail versus juicy detail:

Bert was furious. OR Berts face grew white, and his eyes almost became black

Language Arts: After we find out what kind of chores boys and girls have in Israel, what school would have been like
and what kind of games they played, we will focus on how they worshipped God. Well take a closer look at a service
in the synagogue, and also at a Passover feast in the temple.

Science: Students are very excited about the new science unit we have just begun! We have just started our own
business! Students we be making their own business cards; these might come in handy if you ever need some struc-
tural testing done. Next, they will be divided into groups to several building materials. Over the next several weeks
they will be moving through several centers, testing the strength of different building designs. Instead of filling in reg-
ular worksheets, they will be writing up work orders, complete with invoices.

Social: We trust that everyone safely returned from Tunisia! Hopefully theyve shared lots of stories! But, theyre only
home for a short time since this week we already hope to leave for Ukraine. The next several weeks our folding,
cutting, and pasting skills will be put to the test as we learn about Ukraine. Yes, again we will be making our very own
book, this time it is a Lap Book. Well begin with an envelope fold. In it you will be able to find something about
Ukraines location, flag, size, and distance from us.

Sincerely,
