April in Bloom

Dear Friends and Family, May 4, 2017

Seasonsfor the longest time I have equated the month of April with spring, here in the South
Pacific, it is FALL! As we were driving through some winding roads I was admiring the colors of fall
and feeling the crispness of the air each time we stopped, these past few weeks of being in New
Zealand have been a tremendous blessing. Tomorrow I am off once more to share the the love of
Jesus in some places I have been before within Eastern Europe. Afterwards I will be heading back
to Vanuatu to finish this outreach season with the Pacific Hope ministering in some remote places,
one of which has yet to receive a healthcare team. Would you please continue to pray that the
light, love and truth of the gospel reaches those who need it the most? In the midst of the time
here I have been struck with the seasons and times we are in. The time is now, winter has past
spring has come, bringing new thingsthough sometimes it feels uncertain and unsure, knowing
the Lord we serve is sovereign and just to complete all that He has begun. Thank you all for your
generosity, love and support in this wild adventure of being a wanderer for Jesus. I would greatly
appreciate your prayers that I would receive all that the Lord has for me in this new season I find
myself in and I am praying that you too will receive all that the Lord has in store!

While ministering to a patient and teaching a

local community healthcare worker how to
diagnose leprosy, I was blessed to be used by
God to draw him back to the Lord. The man
wearing the blue shirt in this picture rededicated
his life to the Lord while we were working
together to identify TB, and leprosy. Before he
left he requested a bible so that he could go
home and go to church with his wife and
children to learn more about Jesus. All I did was
pray with my team each day and serve, teach
and help them learn new skillsbut God had
something else stirringa renewing of faith!

There is LIFE after TB! Here in the Gulf last year

we diagnosed our first TB positive patient from the
ship lab. Fast forward to now, after several
months of treatment, numerous people doing
what they do best, he is home and thriving! What
a joy it was to meet the family on this visit and
discover there is another child on the way! It was
amazing to see how hope and healing can
breathe life into areas where despair has reigned
for far too long. The process to bring us here is
also due to everyone stepping up and completing
their tasks. TB is not an individual disease, it is a
treatable and curable illness but it takes the
family, community and nation to help.

Another joy I had was to teach a new batch of

interns at Kapuna. Two of the community
healthcare workers (students of mine) were able to
co-teach with me! Here one of them is teaching the
group how to use a microscope and what to look
for. Each day we met for classes and then smaller
groups went to the lab to practice what they
learned. During this time I also was able to find a
creative way to weave together diagnosing people
with illnesses and the love of God. It was incredible
to see the interns come alive to realize how much
God loves them and how diligent they need to be in
preparing slides so that they could in turn serve
their patient as a child of God and not as someone
who is sick.

This trip was also filled with some

bittersweet moments, I have been
praying and working alongside Tabitha
seen here in the hopes of handing over
the lab on the ship to her. At the end of
my time in PNG I symbolically gave her
the keys to the lab and prayed for her. It
is beautiful to see her thriving and
excelling in this position. God is so
faithful to provide all that we need!

As I find myself in another nation, surrounded with

boxes and have yet to have time to establish a
home please be praying for me. I truly believe I
am to have a home here and travel to/from to the
nationswhat that looks like and where are up in
the air. To be able to continue to do this ministry I
am desperately needing to see an increase in my
support. Please pray and ask if the Lord would
have you do something to help. If there is
anything I can be in prayer for you, please write.
This picture is of the prayer chapel on the
property it is a lovely place and I have a feeling I
will be found there often!
