Kajian Teknis Pencampuran (Blending) Batubara untuk Memenuhi Kriteria

Permintaan Konsumen di PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk,
Tanjung Enim-Sumatera Selatan
untuk Juli 2015

Coal is one of the natural resource potential as a source of energy other

than oil and natural gas. Indonesia has coal reserves are large enough and spread
almost all over the archipelago with diverse qualities. One mining company
engaged in coal mining is PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk. or better known as
PT.BA. Coal produced by PT.BA consists of various types were grouped based on
caloric value. This is because the quality of coal from the mines are always
different from time to time and from one pit to another pit.

To market the coal, mining companies must meet criteria established by the
consumer. Sometimes the coal produced didnt meet the criteria set, causing the
coal would be difficult to market, particularly low-quality coal. To optimize low-
quality coal resources, the process of mixing (blending) with high quality coal is
absolutely necessary so that they meet the criteria set consumers. For consumers
get the desired results, the method used is the method of Trial and Error.

From the calculation method of Trial and Error by using four coal quality
parameters such as the customer wants: Total moisture 21%, Ash 6%, total
sulphur 0.80% and calorific value = 6300 kcal / kg, the authors obtain the
following results Total moisture: 19.03% Ash: 4.2% Total Sulfur: 0.66% and a
calorific value: 6301 kcal / kg. While the laboratory results obtained the following
results: Total Moisture: 18.87% Ash: 3.09% Total Sulfur: 0.64% and GCV: 6410
kcal / kg. Those, we can conclude that the results of the calculations use the
method of Trial and Error and the results of laboratory analysis is more
advantageous for consumers.
