Newport Band Boosters Meeting Minutes

From Wednesday, January 11th 2017 at 7pm at NHS

Attendance: Rachel Steward, Elaine Beck, Jody Hanna, Bill Reinhart, Jennifer Reinhart, Denise
Rundell, Sheryl Young and Pam Lind. Students present are Hailey Young and John Lind.

Minutes from last meeting read, accepted (with revision) and filed.

Treasurers Report: Checking balance is $3571.52, saving balance $5060.79. A total of $741.45
was deposited from the Winter Concert fundraising. Upcoming expense will be the post office
box fee of $130.
There are still lots of shirt invoices that have not been paid. Rachel will send an invoice out with
semester grades and will ask Debbie if the band can file on student accounts.

Directors Report: The Winter Concert went well. The bands are now focusing their
concentration on the Big Band Fiesta and upcoming festivals.

Calendar: Jazz band festival is Wednesday, February 15th at the PAC.

Big Band Fiesta is Saturday, February 25th at Newport Intermediate School. Fliers will be sent
from all schools with grade reports.
Festival at George Fox College will be either March 9th or March 10th.
Spring Concert is March 23rd.

Old Business: Winter concert went well. There was a good turnout for fundraising.

New Business/Fundraising: The Big Band Fiesta pre-sale tickets will have to be successful,
people need to go out and sell. We should figure on about 100 people attending. Everyone pays
for food. Hailey should get together with River and write an article for the News Times. Also put
together a student competition with awards for most tickets sold. Put together ideas and let
Rachel know. If not collected, checks can be sent to the post office box for pre-sold tickets.
Jennifer will contact News Lincoln County and the News Times and look into listing under
upcoming events. It would be a good idea to set a table up at the basketball games. More
fundraising meetings will be held Wednesday, February 1st at 6pm before the regular booster
meeting and Wednesday, February 22nd at 6pm to put the finishing touches on the Big Band
Fiesta.

Next regular booster meeting will be Wednesday, February 1st at 7pm, right after the
fundraising meeting at 6pm.
