I-RISE BAKERY

Wait a minute! What the heck? It's the middle of the month & we're handing out the newsletter?
Yeah, it feels weird to us, too, but we will be gone next week, so we wanted to let you know
now what to expect when we return from vacation. (Because next week, bread will honestly be
the last thing we're thinking about!!! Head will be full of warm salt-water--yes I!) Thanks again
for letting us take this break to recharge our batteries & rest our sore dough-kneading
muscles. It's a long time comin'. Good news for all of you, though, because even though there
were only 3 delivery weeks in August, there are 5 in September! Right back to the grindstone
for us when we get back (literally since we grind the wheat ourselves haha)...
We're calling the first bread of the month the Old-Fashioned Whole Wheat Sunflower bread.
With honey and molasses to bring out the nuttiness of the wheat and toasty sunflower seeds, it
reminds us of the classic American wheat breads. We've been getting requests for a raisin bread
a lot lately, so we'll indulge you Week #2, teaming up those plump sweet little suckers with an
earthy sourdough made with freshly ground organic spelt. It's pb & j time Week #3 when we do
our tried & true Oatmeal Molasses bread. And we have a true hankerin' for a soft sourdough
bread full of sweet caramelized onions and nothin' else, because sometimes we just roll like
that. You're gonna love it. We'll get back to the whole-graininess and finish off the month (&
actually begin October for some of you) with the Cracked Wheat Flax Seed Sourdough, another
killer one for toast.
Since August was such a short delivery month, we don't feel like we got to give some of the
specials a proper run. Plus in October we start rolling out some of our Autumn features, so
there won't be many changes this month. The Dried Fruit Medley Granola is definitely one of
our very favorites of all. Check it out. And c'mon already! Those Apricot-Walnut Scones? They're
the bomb!!! We just got handed enough huge zucchini to last through the rest of next year, so
we can't take our Zucchini Bread off the menu quite yet. The new thing this month is Chocolate
& Peanut Butter Chip Cookies. We did oat-y ones a few months back, but these will be more like
your favorite toll-house style. It will be hard to eat only one!
Thanks again for keeping us around, you guys. We appreciate the choice you make to support
your local bread-ren. Though we know that we don't all live by bread alone, it means a great
deal to us to be able to contribute to your lives in one of the best ways we know. Let's keep
helping each other's worlds go 'round. It's the ancient way of the future. As they say in Costa
Rica, "Pura vida." PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
