The Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Cllr Johannes Phokane and
The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality, Cllr Stanley Keamotseng
Ramaila were part of the Pink Walk for Cancer that was held at Thaba Moshate
Casino last Saturday.
The aim of the walk was to sensitise the community at large about the danger
of cancer and also to raise funds for those who are affected by the disease. Fetak-
gomo Greater Tubatse Municipality and Thaba Moshate joined forces to make a
success of the project and more than jmore than 800 community members man-
aged to attend the walk.
Amongst the athletes were Councillors, Thaba Moshate General Manager,

Peter Tshidi, Acting Municipal Manager of FGTM ,Petience Busane, Health District
manager Linah Maepa, FGTM employees, local runners, children and people with
disabilities.
In his speech the Mayor of FGTM Cllr Phokane encouraged people to assist
each other in fighting the disease. Executive Mayor Ramaila thanked the commu-
nity for taking part and taking the Pink Walk very serious.

Top 20 for Calvin College
A team of four Calvinites was among the top 20 teams awarded certificates by the CFO Ex-
ecutive Director at an event held on the 12th of October 2017 in the Johannesburg Securities
Exchange boardroom in Johannesburg. A total of 220 teams across the country entered the
competitions. Each team was given a ca
se study of Amango Mining Company which was confronted with a plethora of challenges.
Each team was required to come up with sustainable strategies to address the challenges
and to present them. The teams presentations were judged by financial and business practi-
tioners. The team from C
alvin College was called Team MMB and was among the top 20. The team members were
Kabelo Mahabe, Maureen Selahle, Prince Moloto and Shadi Nkoane. The Calvin College
team was mentored by Mr. Lesedi Moloto as part of his free personal services to the commu-
nity. Calvin College is very proud of these learners achievement as it is evident that they are
able to integrate the theory they learn in class with practice.

study - Minister
of Public Works
Public Works Minister, Nkosinathi Nhleko has encouraged youth to pursue studies in
specialised fields of architecture, town planning, engineering, quantity surveying, proper-
ty and facilities speciality, property economics and strategic thinking in the built environ-
ment.
Minister Nhleko pointed these out as scarce skills needed to grow the economy while
addressing an engagement with youth and emerging contractors at the Peter Mokaba
Stadium in Polokwane on the sideline of the two-day MinMEC meeting that ended last
week Friday.
While we talk of radical economic transformation, as youth, you are the roots to this
radical approach in construction, property and facilities management and asset manage-
ment, the Minister told the packed hall at the event organised by the African National
Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Limpopo.
Nhleko said that in spite of business cycle upswings, dating as far back as 1978-81,
1983-84, 1986-89, 1993-96 and 2003-2007, unemployment has been soaring.
He acknowledged that the majority of the countrys unemployed are youth from histor-
ically disadvantaged communities, some with qualifications, others are semi-skilled while
the majority of them are unskilled.
The high levels of unemployment are not only costly to the individuals and families
but also to local as well as regional economies and the economy in general. Unemploy-
ment brings along high levels poverty and with the historical structure of our economy we
still live in very highly unequal societies, he stressed.
Nhleko highlighted that South Africa is a youthful country, hence it is imperative for
young people to fully participate and play their roles to ensure that the successful drive
toward achieving radical economic transformation (RET).
He said that the initiative requires open minded members of our society particularly
youth, who take future seriously and embrace the concept of RET and realized the con-
sequences of this phase of our democracy.
Political freedom alone is meaningless if economic freedom is not achieved, he
underscored.
Nhleko maintained that skills development and mentoring in the built environment will
be required to assist government and the country in innovative and cost effective ways to
make South Africa a better place.

LIMA presents
workshop for local
athletics clubs
Limpopo Athletics (LIMA) is working hard
to empower local clubs with the skills to
participate according to the prescribed
rules, while creating a thriving environ-
ment for the sport.
Two weeks ago representatives from
registered athletics clubs and stake-
holders such as the Fetakgomo Greater
Tubatse Municipality, gathered at Thaba
Moshate Casino, Resort and Convention
Centre for a workshop.
The group received training and guid-
ance and each club received a rule book
with all the regulations governing the
clubs/athletes within the sport. People
often assume they can simply organise a
fun walk or run but in reality this needs
to be cleared and done in conjunction
with LIMA. These and other issues
relating to the clubs and athletes were
discussed. Clubs that might have missed
out or people who would like to register
an athletics club can contact the LIMA
Secretary on 081 341 1107.

Chrome Masters registration
2 Days Tournament
The Chrome Masters is set to take place
from 2 to 4 November at the Tubatse Chrome
Golf Club. Only 10 places remain open for
entry in this prestigious competition.
This event will have a 9 Holes - Par 3 -
Shoot Out on Thursday and competition
days on Friday and Saturday.
The format will be Individual IPS and Com-
bined IPS. The format of the competition is
the same as the US Masters.
The entry fee is R800 per player and the
coveted Green Jacket and a range of other
prizes are up for grabs.
On 2 November there will be a Players auc-
tion evening with snacks. The entry fee also
includes lunch between rounds and dinner on
Friday and Saturday night.

Only players with a SAGA Handicap may
enter the competition.
Tee off will be at 07:00 and 12:15. The draw
