SOUTH EL MONTE GIRLS SOCCER

TEAM GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS

To the members of the South El Monte Girls Soccer Team and their parents:

South El Monte Soccer has accomplished many goals over the years and we are looking forward
to another successful season. We want to continue our winning tradition. A winning tradition
comes from the HARD WORK, DEDICATION, DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT by the coaching
staff, players and parents.

Our team has high goals and expectations for this year. Team policies and expectations are
necessary for us to be successful.

OBJECTIVES:
Average a GPA of 3.0 as a program
Develop skills and knowledge of the game
Win Mission Valley League
Advance pass the first round of CIF
Expose players to surrounding colleges

RULES:

Players must understand that playing any school sport is a privilege not a right. Players
who exercise the privilege of joining a school sports teams team are accepting the fact that
team goals come before individual goals.

Being a member of this team means making a commitment to the program. You will be
responsible for managing your time to meet all of your other obligations.

Punctuality players will be on time to all team functions. Remember being ready
means being at the warm up line at 3:05pm not getting to the field at 3:05pm. Not
arriving on time will result in WHOLE team consequences.
Attendance Players are expected to have 100% attendance at practice, games, and
other team functions. A soccer team cannot function properly if all members are not
present. Obviously, emergencies happen, I expect a phone call from PARENT if player
will be missing practice. Please let me know ahead of time so that I can properly plan
practice. Remember that colds, headaches, stomach aches and allergies are usually
inconveniences not major illnesses.
Unexcused absence: An unexcused absence will result in that player not being permitted
to play the next game. A second unexcused absence will result in that player not being
permitted to play in the next two games and a parent/coach meeting. A third unexcused
absence will result in that player not being permitted to play in the next three games
and result in a parent/coach/ AD meeting. A fourth unexcused absence will result in the
dismissal from the team. Not being in practice uniform will result in a unexcused
absence.
Excused absences: are academic related school functions, religious commitments,
medical notes, death in the family and legal reasons. Excessive amount of excused
absences (7) will also count against the players
All players are required to remain at the games and practices until the coaching staff
dismisses the team. Failure to stay for the entire practice can result in lost playing time.
Travel Policy: All team members are expected to travel to all away matches, including
injured. Any exceptions (special circumstances only) must be cleared with AD ahead of
time for the player to be eligible to travel to the match separately. Players not riding
home on the team bus are allowed to ride home only with their OWN PARENTS.
VARSITY WILL STAY AND WATCH THE JV PLAY ALHAMBRA ON 11/29.
Who Plays: While we as coaches try to teach athletes many lessons beyond the results
that end up in the win and loss columns, we must also recognize that, by the time
players reach high school level of competition, match results are important. Therefore,
we try to put the best possible team on the field in all matches. The result is that all
players will not play in all matches. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES OF PLAYING FOR ANY
PLAYER. At the same time, coaches will make an effort to allow every player to play in
matches where the outcome is no longer in question, although this is not always
possible.
The use of alcohol or tobacco is not permitted. Players who post using it on social media
or get caught participating in alcohol or tobacco use will be suspended for a game and
will not be able to play again until meeting with parent.
