ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Writing a project is one of the most significant academic challenges, I have ever
faced. Though this project has been presented by me but there are many people
who remained in veil, who gave all their support and helped me to complete this
project.

First of all I am very grateful to my subject teacher DR. MANOJ MISHRA

Without the kind support of whom and help the completion of the project was a
herculean task for me. He donated his valuable time from his busy schedule to help
me to complete this project and suggested me from where and how to collect data.

I am very thankful to the librarian who provided me several books on this topic
which proved beneficial in completing this project.

I acknowledge my friends who gave their valuable and meticulous advice which
was very useful and could not be ignored in writing the project. I want to convey
most sincere thanks to my seniors for helping me throughout the project.
Last but not the least, I am very much thankful to my parents and family, who
always stand aside me and helped me a lot in accessing all sorts of resources.

I thank all of them!

1.INTRODUCTION

An Event can be described as a public assembly for the purpose of celebration,

education, marketing or reunion. Events can be classified on the basis of their size,
type and context. There are three types of events 1.corporate events like Y2B, HR
submit etc. 2. Education and Career events like workshop, seminar, debate etc.
3. Social events like balkalakar, impact week etc.

Event management is the co-ordination, running and planning of all the people,
teams and features that come together to create every kind of event.
Event management is the application of project management to the creation and
development of large scale events such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies,
formal parties, concerts, or conventions. It involves studying the brand, identifying
the target audience, devising the event concept, planning the logistics and
coordinating the technical aspects before actually launching the event.

The event manager is the person who plans and executes the event, taking
responsibility for the creative, technical and logistical elements. This includes
overall event design, brand building, marketing and communication strategy,
audio-visual production, scriptwriting, logistics, budgeting, negotiation and client
service.

Events and occasions are an integral part of human life. We simply cannot bypass
them as they touch almost all aspects of our social existence. Birthday celebrations,
social gatherings, engagements and weddings are events we celebrate at the
personal level.

During academic years there are school events such as annual day functions, inter
and intra school contests, sports day celebrations, followed by college and
university level festivals. In the sphere of work, there are annual general meetings,
exhibitions, marketing campaigns, conferences, product launches and brand
development activities. Other events such as fashion shows, cultural programs,
talent hunt shows, promotional campaigns, religious gatherings and so on also play
an important role in our life.

And whats more, all of us have been a part of these events from time to time. We
either organize these events or take part in the show. Either ways we want these
occasions to go on as per our expectations and in doing so we often seek
professional help. However, we do not pay much heed to the people who
assiduously put in their effort and creative talent to make these events memorable
and successful. They are the event managers.

Event management is a multifaceted activity. Major constituents of this profile

include creativity, meticulous planning, relationship management, advertising and
marketing and much more, all rolled into one seamlessly choreographed process.

Education events - DPL in CNLU

About the event:

A debate round has two teams with two debaters each and a Speaker. The Speaker
serves as both the judge and arbiter of the rules during the round. Note here that
"Speaker" always refers to the judge from this point forward. One team represents
the Government, while the other represents the Opposition. The Government team
is composed of a Prime Minister, who speaks twice, and a Member of
Government, who speaks once. The Opposition team is composed of a Leader of
the Opposition, who speaks twice, and a Member of the Opposition, who speaks
once. The Government proposes a specific case statement, which the government
team must demonstrate to be correct. The Opposition does not have to propose
anything, but must demonstrate that the case statement is not correct. The Speaker
decides at the end of the round, based on the arguments made in the round, whether
the Government has proved its case or whether the Opposition has disproved it.
The team which met its burden more convincingly wins.It was a 2 day event. Day
1 preliminary round and quarterfinals, Day 2 semifinal and final rounds. Each team
had 5 members and every member had to participate in at least 2 debates. Students
had to apply for this event through Facebook.

Motive of The Event

It is an event organised by the student of debating society of CNLU. The main
motive of the event is to promote debating among students in the college and to
find good debaters and develop debating skills of the students.

1. The two teams are given the motion.

2. The Government team begins the debate by delivering the first speecha
speech that outlines and describes their support of the motion. 7 minutes
3. They have 15 minutes to prepare their respective cases.
4. The Opposition team then responds to this speech with a speech constructing
their critique of the Government's case. 8 minutes
5. The Government team responds to the Opposition's arguments, attempting to
reassert their own position. 8 minutes
6. The Opposition team responds in the same manner. 8 minutes
7. The Opposition team concludes with a "rebuttal" speecha speech designed
to act as a summary of the important issues to think about in the debate. 4
minutes
8. The Government team finishes with its own rebuttal speech 5 minutes

Observation:-

It was a semi-successful event, it failed in some of its motives, 1st of all the
process of applying was not understood by everyone, then the timing of the event
was not appropriate as the student not residing in the hostel had difficulty in
attending the event. It was mostly confined to hostel students. And there was no
reward or certificate of any kinds from the event. Otherwise debating was total fun
and informative. The topics of debates were also very good and other than these
shortcomings the event was well organised.

from Kiirtan. Food and lodging of the people attending was well taken care of.
Conclusion

In this project, I have studied three kinds of event management in my locality

namely corporate, education and religious event. Reports and observation are
based on my personal experience and study of the event. For every event to be
successful it should be planned and properly managed, if the event is not managed
or properly planned then it will lead to its failure. In my locality event are properly
managed and planned. In corporate event discussed above the management was
best as and it was properly planned at it was organised by a company with huge
resources, and it had taken best venue, timing for the event. The event was
organised by professionals so margin of error in the event was very less. In the
educational event since the event was organised by group of student it was bound
to have certain backdrops as it is their learning period and they limited resources at
their disposal. And the last event which I have talked about it is a religious event it
was a 24 hour event and was a successful one it was able to complete its motives.
It was organised by a single person who was a business man and he had resources
available at his disposal, he was able to manage the event properly as this was not
his 1st event of this kind. He organizes this event annually.

So for a proper and successful event it should be planned and managed. Without
planning and coordination an event can never be successful. An event should be
planned, coordinated and managed.
