Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:
I have attached meeting notes from a staff meeting in September of 2017. As a middle
school staff, we regularly hold meetings to discuss important issues and maintain our
focus on how to improve student learning. We regularly brainstorm building concerns
so that we can continue to improve as a building. Our staff meetings address
immediate concerns and provide us with a more defined vision of where we are headed
as a building level team. This artifact meets the standard by showing my participation in
a school culture that focuses on improved student learning. As indicated in the meeting
notes, we discussed our new BEAKONS behavior programs and further plans to meet
in smaller groups to discuss individual students that we serve in that program.

Reflection on the artifact:


Staff meetings are a valuable way for staff to continue to develop a culture focused on
student learning. Our meetings give staff an opportunity to collaborate with all teachers
in the building on current issues and what is going on in our school in terms of learning.
As a teacher at Bondurant-Farrar Middle School, I am given many opportunities to
participate in a school culture that is focused on student learning. These opportunities
include content level professional learning communities, grade level team meetings,
staff meetings, and vertical team meetings. I am able to collaborate with others to
improve my own teaching practices and knowledge, which in turn boosts student
learning.
