Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:

This artifact is a picture of a math application activity that my students completed

in my 7th grade pull-out math class. We have been learning about calculating
discounts. In this project, students were required to create their own store. They could
fill it with 6 items of their choice. Each item needed to include the original price, amount
of discount, and final price. This activity worked well in my classroom, and students
were able to practice the math concept that we were learning through practical
application.

Reflection on the artifact:

At the beginning of the year, students in my math class would ask me almost
every day, When are we going to use this? In response to that question, I have been
developing real-life application projects for my students. When my students know that
the math they are learning is applicable to their life, they are more engaged in the
material and seem to retain the content better. My students really enjoy these projects,
and they have become a vital part of my teaching. I have noticed increased motivation,
better scores, and decreased behavior concerns through math application activities in
my classroom.
