A Professionalism and Understanding

Juwaher was professional at school with the children and colleagues alike.
She was always punctual. She had her lesson plans prepared on time and she was
very well-organized in her lessons.
She started showing a growing understanding of the schools approach to reading
and English as an additional language.

In the lessons observed Juwaher demonstrated creativity, initiative and enthusiasm.


She has worked collaboratively and cooperatively with her mentor and was very
sensitive to the needs of the children; she showed a high level of duty of care
towards them,
Juwaher enjoyed making a fantastic display, all about charity day
She was always punctual. She had her lesson plans prepared on time and she was
very well-organized in her lessons.
She started showing a growing understanding of the schools approach to reading
and English as an additional language.

B - Planning for learning

Juwahers lesson plans met the needs of individual children including EAL and
SEN
Lesson plans were presented in a in a clear and detailed way and was
appropriately differentiated for all ability students in the class. The language
used was also age appropriate, yet the high ability students were challenged
Objectives were detailed and clear. They were displayed and contextualized in
each lesson.
Transitions between activities were smooth and each lesson had a starter, main
part and a plenary.
Activities were appropriate in order to achieve learning objectives
Juwaher always consulted me when planning and also acted positively on
advice given.
She planned for a range of student-centered interaction patterns and managed
pair work, group work, individual and whole class tasks with confidence.
Prepared carefully structured activities aimed at teaching of listening, speaking
and reading

C - Implementing and managing learning

Language and delivery:


Accurate and appropriate language was used during lessons. Instructions were
given clearly and repeated due to the EAL nature of the class
Written and spoken language were used accurately and appropriately
A range of teaching strategies were used such as talk partners, self-evaluation,
group and peer assessment
Clear instructions and teacher modeling were used to introduce new tasks to the
children.
A range of different questioning techniques were used to assess childrens
learning including open-ended questioning
Classroom management:

Used classroom space and furniture effectively and safely; introduced new
topics to the children using carpet time before they were moved back to their
desks in differentiated groups
In lessons Juwaher was able to maintain a good pace in her lessons and
managed class time effectively
Display and learning wall was done; a range of questions were displayed as
well as a range of different ability work from the children
Provides a language rich environment (displays, including student work)
Used appropriate strategies and assertive discipline to encourage and maintain
active student participation
Established and maintained rules and clear routines for behaviour in the
classroom.
Communication skills:
She built a good rapport through her interaction with students
Appropriate body language, eye contact, gestures and voice was used to
maintain an effective classroom presence
Created a positive and active learning environment in the classroom through her
teaching and display work

D - Monitoring and assessment of learning


Ongoing feedback and assessment was given to children to enhance learning and
also set targets for future learning. She kept children motivated using their sticker
charts and tokens.
E Critical reflection

Juwaher demonstrated an ability to reflect record and discuss observations of


children and teaching.

She accepted guidance from mentor in a positive way and responded and acted
constructively to feedback.

She was critical about her own teaching and was willing to try new approaches to
improve her teaching.
General Comments
Juwaher has planned, delivered and assessed her lessons and in a professional way.
She has acted positively on her feedback and has tried to improve and reach the
targets given. She has also shown a great duty of care towards the children and has
rewarded and reprimanded them using assertive discipline.
Next semester I will focus on (to be completed by the student teacher ):

Develop my teaching strategies to let students more independent.
