CHAPTER 2

2.0 INTRODUCTION

While undergoing industrial training at Telekom Malaysia Berhad, I was placed under
Unit SDZ TM Node Kok Lanas. Among the scope of work during the industrial
training are as follows:

2.1 UNIT SDZ

The SDZ unit is a small branch under NMO (Network Management and
Operation), where this unit is responsible for recording, repairing and updating
records related to damages. Organizations under this administration are divided into
two groups where the attached organizational structure acts to record and update all
work trips that have been reported by technicians working outside of the
reconstruction process.

Distribution of number of employees stationed in certain areas is measured by


the percentage of service usage in this area. This is due to the highest percentage of
users leading to high damage as well as advanced areas such as city centers and so on.
This can help expedite the restoration process, depending on the number of
employees.
2.1.1 MAIN ACTIVITIES

2.1.1.1 DEL INSTALLATION

Figure below shows the flow chart of DEL installation that involves Unit SDZ.
Firstly, installation work orders will be monitored via the SWIFT portal. Then, there
will be roll call for installer and at the same time the information or action that needs
to be done regarding installation issues will be discussed. Unit SDZ also will
coordinate with the parties if there is a complaint regarding the installer. Next, solve
technical problems during installation by the installer before work orders can be
returned. Finally, make sure the installer does the installation work according to the
set guidelines.

In DEL installation process, MDF section of Unit SDZ also gets involve. When there
is work orders in SWIFT Portal, MDF assistant will performed physical jumper on
MDF for installation and update the jumper status via SWIFT Portal. Figure below
shows the flow chart of Del installation for MDF section:
