COMPANY RULES

Starting Here, Starting Now

B. Peter Westerhoff, Director
Lucas Hart, Stage Manager

1. As a learning institution, our goal is to prepare you for a professional environment. Therefore,
we follow Equity rules as closely as possible for rehearsals and performances.
2. Any actor or crew member attending a rehearsal or performance under any influence of alcohol
or other substances will be dismissed and replaced immediately without prior warning.
3. You must sign in each night during rehearsals and performances. Do not sign in for other actors
or crew members.
4. If you are not signed in 10 minutes before your call time, you will receive a phone call from
stage management and will be considered tardy.
5. Conflicts with rehearsal dates and times must be submitted to the stage manager by 11:59pm
on Friday, June 2, 2017. Any conflict that is known about by an actor and not submitted by this
time will go unacknowledged.
6. Actors must notify the stage manager as soon as possible if there is any unforeseen reason for
tardiness or absence. Unexcused tardiness and absence will not be tolerated.
7. It is the duty of all cast and crew members to check their emails and text messages daily. You
are responsible for any item posted or sent until 6:00 a.m. that day.
8. Cast and crew must always dress appropriately for rehearsals and performances. Actors must
wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes when not in character shoes; actors will wear rehearsal skirts, if
necessary. Crew must wear sturdy closed-toed black shoes, long black pants, and a long-sleeved
black shirt with no other visible colors or designs.
9. No cast or crew member may leave rehearsal without permission from the director and verbal
communication to the stage manager that you are doing so.
10. Per campus policy, there is no smoking allowed on campus grounds.
11. Food and drinks should only be consumed during breaks or with special permission, bottled
water aside.
12. If you need to use the restroom, it is important that you do so before rehearsal begins. Regular
bathroom breaks will occur as per Equity Rules.
13. Please do not disturb the props or set pieces. Leave them in their designated areas unless it is
your job to move them. Do not place personal items (i.e. water bottles, scripts, or
backpacks/purses) on props tables. These items will be taken up by stage management.
14. Actors and crew are required to participate in the scheduled strike.
15. Actors will never wear costumes outside of the dressing rooms or stage space unless it is part of
the performance.
16. Family members are not allowed in Gunderson for rehearsals unless consent has been given, in
advance, by the director.
17. Rehearsals will be dismissed early if, and only if, actors are on top of the memorizations of their
blocking and lines, and if the scheduled rehearsal materials/goals have all been accomplished.
18. The director will be prepared to start rehearsing by the designated call time for rehearsal; he
expects the same from you. Please prepare to arrive with enough time to check for your props
and to dress in any rehearsal clothing before your designated call time.
19. Call times will be announced by the stage manager for performances, as well as all technical
rehearsals.
20. No cell phones or electronic devices are to be used by cast or crew during rehearsals,
unless an expected call or text has been discussed with the stage manager, and the
director, in advance or you are on break. Stage managers and assistant stage managers have
permission to collect any device being used illegally during a performance or rehearsal.
21. Not being off book at the appropriate time hinders the director, his work, the stage
management team, any technicians present, and your fellow actors. Please keep that in mind.

Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation!
