Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing with reference to the open position as volunteer at the Biochemistry

Proteomics Laboratory at National Institute “Victor Babes”. I am a second-year student at
University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest, Faculty of Medicine. My field
of interest is research and I see a great opportunity for me to work in this prestigious institution’s
laboratory. I am a hard-working and highly motivated person that is curious to search for
undiscovered areas of biochemistry. With skills such as teamwork and communication acquired
in volunteering, which are essential to collaborate, it will be my pleasure to work in a laboratory.
In this way I usually complete different tasks in laboratories since high school. Generally, I want
to learn as much as possible about this world. I am a very ambitious person, I enjoy working
under pressure and I want to do challenging activities.

I think this experience could help me develop my character, through the interactions with
the members of the whole team, but I also hope to improve my laboratory aptitudes, which
would be a great asset in my long-term career. As I always enjoy learning new abilities, I
consider working alongside people with experience in this field as unique and precious time
spent in a fulfilling environment. I also don’t intend to leave after the training period, but to
continue to work in laboratory, because I was glad to hear in the presentation conference, that we
can carry on as part of the team if we wanted to. My purpose is not to acquire a diploma, but to
develop myself and to contribute to the leading effort in research.

As presented in my resume, I have basic knowledge in laboratory work, but I am ready to

learn as I am a quick learner. I am committed to spend a lot of time in the laboratory because it is
one of the most appropriate activity I can do for my personal growth and another advantage for
me is that I live very close to the Institute. For my future career this is a must, because it is the
field that I want to continue to work in. I also have many ideas and questions to expand my
knowledge, so it is necessary for me to enter in a scientific area. For a long time, I have wanted
to become a volunteer in the Institute, but I didn’t know that there was a possibility to apply so
soon. In order to develop my knowledge to integrate in the team, I have read about mass
spectrometry, electrophoresis, Western Blot, ELISA and others. I also have theoretical
knowledge acquired from Cell Biology courses at which I enjoyed attending every lecture of the
course.

I am looking forward to your reply and I hope it will be a positive one. It would be a
great honor for me to work in the Biochemistry Proteomics Laboratory.

Sincerely,

Alexandru Andrei
