Overview of lesson:
In this lesson, students will become familiar with operating a GPS unit in order to find their next circuit
activity. Each station will require students to practice their locomotor and nonlocomotor skills.
General Learning Outcomes:
Outcome A: Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; dance,
games, types of gymnastics, individual activities and activities in an
alternative environment; e.g., aquatics and outdoor pursuits.
Specific Learning Outcomes:
A5–1 select, perform and refine more challenging locomotor sequences
A5–2 consistently and confidently perform locomotor skills and combination of skills, by using elements of body and
space awareness, effort and relationships to a variety of stimuli to improve personal performance
A5–3 select, perform and refine more challenging nonlocomotory sequences

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
- GPS units- at least 5
- Hula-Hoops
- Skipping ropes
- 4 pylons
- Basket balls
- Sheet of coordinates with activity description
- Timer
- Whistle
PROCEDURE
Introduction (7 min.):
- Have students assemble in a line outside
- Number students off from one through five
- Each team will have at least one GPS unit or more depending on supply
- Each team will receive a sheet of coordinates that are different from another **this will needed to be created
in advance as coordinates will differ from place to place where you want the students to be.
- Each coordinate will have the activity description
- Demonstrate how to plug in the coordinates to the GPS
- Each group will have different starting point
- Demonstrate each activity at the stations
- Students will have 10 minutes at each station before moving onto the next

Body (50 min.):
Station #1: 15 burpees, 10 sit ups, 20 leg lifts, 10 jumping jacks, 10 lunges (each leg, total 20)
Station #2: Hula-hoops and skipping ropes
Station #3: Stretching: shoulder rolls, toe touches, arm circles
Station #4: Jogging along the outside of the pylons (set them up in a large square shape)
Station #5: Shoot hoops at basketball court

- Blow whistle every 10 minutes to indicate change in station


Closure (3 min.):
- Have students gather the equipment at their last station to be taken back to the gym
- Upon collection of GPS units, ask each group to brainstorm other ways a GPS could be used
- When students are settled back into the classroom, ask them to share their ideas
