Tutorial Notes

Warm Ups

Activity 1

“Stuck in the Mud”

- Whole class or split into two

- Have of the class start with a ball each

- 2-3 students are taggers

- If players are tagged, have to stop and stand


with feet apart

- Tagged players are ‘released’ is another player


rolls a ball between your legs

Variations

- can pass to each other to release players

“Step away, step towards”

“hands, cradle, step, swing”

Activity 2

“React and Catch”

- In pairs

Variation 1

- one student stands with their hands behind their back,


other person drops ball in front of them

- Must catch ball before it hits the ground

- 5 goes each

Variation 2

- player starts with their back to their partner

- Partner calls name

- Must turn around and catch the ball

Variation 3

- partners face each other

- Ball starts on the floor

- Player 1 flicks the ball outside of player 2’s body

- Player 2 must react and catch the ball

- Swap after each flick

KTP’s

- “low and flick”

Activity 3

“Tag and Ball Step Over”

- Whole class, or split into two

- Start with roughly 3 taggers

- Other players each start with a ball

- If tagged, players slam the ball on the floor and


step over it. They now become the taggers

- The original tagger then picks up the ball and


swaps roles

Variation

- can also tap ball with foot to simulate a penalty

Activity 4

“Passing with a Partner”

- back and forth with a partner

- Changing left and right

“Rats and Rabbits”

- passing with a partner, when whistle blows,


player with ball runs to cone, player without ball
chases

- make competitive

“1v1 Evasion”

- Groups of 6-8

- Attackers start with ball

- Defender calls ‘go’

- Attackers run and aim to get to try lines, must


evade defenders

- Must touch ball past try lines to win
