Advisers Leadership Training
1. This office is hereby disseminating the communication from the Saceda Youth Lead,
inviting all interested parties to join its Region Wide Supreme Pupil Government,
Supreme Student Government and Teacher Advisers Leadership Training for SY 2016-
2017 on the following dates: August 19-21, 2016, August 26-28, September 5-7, and
September 19-21 at Boljoon, Cebu.
2. This training aims to provide the participants opportunities to develop their leadership
skills and enhance their community extension services.
3. The communication and other related documents are herewith attached for your
reference.

Saceda Youth Lead, a Youth Serving Institution under the auspices of the National Youth
Commission, would like to partner with the DepEd Region VII in the conduct of a Region Wide
Supreme Pupil Government, Supreme Student Government and Teacher Advisers
Leadership Training for SY 2016-2017 on the following available dates: August 19-21, August
26-28, September 5-7, September 19-21, 2016 on Boljoon, Cebu Province,
SYL, with its 18 years track record in leadership training development in the Philippines and
ASEAN, continues empowering elementary, high school and college students and even
professionals to become most effective citizens by providing them opportunities in leadership,
community service and exchange.
The registration fee of this training is Six Hundred Pesos Only (P600). P400 will go for SYL
Team to cover the team's transportation, kits, TD's, and food; P200 will go to the host division
for other logistical support such as PA system, rental of venue, snacks for all participants. SYL
will issue individual receipts or per delegation.
We employ an experiential learning with strong emphasis on skills and values formation;
teamwork and leadership development. We hope you can support this cause and we will be glad
to come to conduct this training.

Target Participants:
Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, PRO) and the Members of the
Pupil and Student Government Leaders of the Division and all Teacher Advisers
Overview:
The Region Wide Pupil and Student Government Leadership Training is a 3-day
intensive program, emphasizes on necessary, beneficial and practical approaches to better
leadership development. The intensive program will explore analytical frameworks employing
the leadership strategies with proper decision making skills. Participants will build skills and
refine values as they perform team exercises which will provide greater inspiration for the self to
effect change in the families, communities and the nation.
Objectives:
(1) Awaken their giants within through series of workshops and dynamics of the summer camp.
(2) Expose students to concepts in leadership through interaction and lectures;
(3) Equip student leaders the necessary skills and values needed for life so that they can achieve self-
reliance and maturity;
(4) Meet local leaders and gain inspiration from them;
(5) Provide enrichment in the education of the youth through leadership dynamics, teamwork and
group activities;
(6) Train and empower student leaders to become future leaders of the country, and;
(7) Promote peace and mutual understanding among the youth through leadership and social action
Leadership and Calling (The Need for Leadership for Personal and Societal Transformation); Leadership
and Consciousness (Concepts of Leadership); Leadership and Choice (Through Interaction and
Visitations of local partner institutions); Leadership and Character (To expose delegates to the various
realities and inequities of the world ; and Leadership and Commitment;

1300-1600 Eco-Challenge:Team Building Activities for the SG Leaders
Obstacle courses will be scattered all over the city for the student leaders to achieve;
leaders will be exposed to the elements of leadership like purpose, individual roles,
team roles, planning, decision making, communication, trust, conflict management,
cooperation and team fighting spirit; Through this, they will encounter failures and
successes in their training which will be processed so that the leader must learn how to
cope with success and failure.
1600-1700 General Reflections: Fellowship and Camaraderie of SG Leaders
• The training module will cost Six Hundred Pesos (Php 600.00). P400 will be allocated for
training materials such as handouts, honoraria and transportation of the speakers and facilitators
and P200 for host team logistics including the provisions of snacks;
• Meals such as lunches shall be on personal account.
• Proposed training dates: August 19-21, August 26-28, September 5-7, September 19-21;
• Target number of participants is 300 for student leaders and 100 for teachers.
• Responsibility of the Training Team: (1) To give hand outs and training materials, (2) To deliver
the training through lectures and group dynamics and group workshops
• Responsibility of the Host Team: (1) To provide accommodation to the facilitators at the HE
Room of a local school
Methodology:
The training will be conducted through lecture, solid group discussions and dynamics and intellectual and
practical workshops.

SYL believes that through our youth and our teachers we will see the future of our
country and through their good deeds we will prosper as one nation. It believes that education is
the backbone of our economy and it needs greater partnership and collaboration with other
institutions to empower the Filipino Youth to become better citizens of our country by providing
them opportunities in leadership, community service and social action. It believes in the ripples
of modest beginnings that societal transformation must start from within and that involves
training and awakening of the self; given the chance and guidance, one can become an agent of
change for God and country.
Saceda Youth Lead will be an Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism
Organizations in 2016 (affiliation is in progress), a Registered Member of the Philippine
National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency of the National Economic and Development
Authority (NEDA), registered as a Youth Serving Institution under the auspices of the National
Youth Commission. It is a recognized NGO on youth empowerment and development by the
Charter for Compassion, Harvard University Alumni Association of the Philippines, Ngee Ann
Polytechnic of Singapore, Department of Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussaiam and the Berg
Institute, along with the recognition from the Department of Education, and Commission on
Higher Education. It has empoxvered more than 200,000 youths and teachers in all its programs
and activities in the Philippines and the ASEAN region.
CORE LECTURERS
DAVE G. SACEDA
The past 18 years was spent empowering core values and leadership skills to elementary, high school and
college students as well as educators. As chair and founder of Saceda Youth Lead, he successfully
established Youth Leadership Initiatives to schools and universities in the Philippines and the Asian
region; conducted various trainings on Faculty Development and erected SYL School- a leadership high
school in the Philippines and author of ILLS OUTWEIGH THRILLS- 7 Deadly Sins in Teaching and I
am Rich and so are You!
Armed with a BA degree major in History from Silliman University (cum laude/most outstanding student
of the year/ university talent awardee for piano and voice, team captain of the SU Varsity Swim Team),
and International Relations from the International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan, he ventured into
myriad leadership programs in several countries. He earned his Post Graduate degree in Leadership and
Change from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dr. Saceda explains
"Through the youth we see the future of our country and through their good deeds, we will prosper as a
nation". He is a fellow at the Berg Institute of Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, Madrid, Spain and a
member of the Decision Science Institute.
He lives in Dumaguete City, Philippines and is blessed with two children- Danielle and Manasseh.
RECHANEL L. GALLANO
Is the Managing Officer of Saceda Youth Lead and Director of the SYL School-the first leadership high
school in Negros Oriental. He earned his Political Science degree from Foundation University. He has
entered the Law School as well; Recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from the National Youth
Commission and the Distinguished Service for Youth Leadership from the HOBY Foundation. His
further trainings include: Head of Delegation, Philippine Delegation to the World Leadership Congress in
the United States; Head Delegation-Philippine Team to Singapore; Representative to the United Nations
International Conference on Humanitarian Affairs in Bangkok, Thailand.
As Officer-in-Charge of the Training and Development, Ms. Aventurado also teaches leadership to high
school students. She has a degree in Elementary Education and graduated as Magna Cum Laude from
Negros Oriental State University. She has represented the Philippines in series of national and
international leadership programs such as in Singapore. Beijing, and Hong Kong.
JUNIOR FACILITATORS
Will be composed of the students at Saceda Youth Lead School. Each JF will attend to 12-15 students in a
group. The SYL Junior Facilitators are trained in facilitating solid group dynamics sets ups and the eco-
challenge. They are also trained in emergency and water safety.
