Madam:
Magandang Gensan!
We are respectfully forwarding to your good office the accomplishment report of the
English Festival 2018, held in our school last February 9, 2018.
Attached herewith are the means of verification such as pictures and liquidations.
NARRATIVE REPORT
In one of the LAC sessions conducted last December, the English Subject
Coordinator, together with the English teachers had decided to conduct an English
Festival before this school year ends.
On January 12, 2018, the English Subject Coordinator asked the School Head’s
approval and conducted a meeting to finalize the schedule, activity matrix, events,
mechanics, guidelines, and the assignment of committee members. The body decided to
conduct it on January 31. However, due to time constraints we finally rescheduled it on
February 9, with the School Head’s approval.
During the meeting, the English Coordinator proposed series of events. The
following were the events she proposed: Spelling Bee (for Grades 7 & 8), Quiz Bee (for
Grades 9 & 10), Choral Reading, (Grade 7), Readers’ Theatre (Grade 8), Speech Choir
(Grade 9) and Jazz Chant (Grade 10) which the body willingly approved. After the
meeting, the Coordinator prepared an activity proposal for the School Head’s approval.
On January 15, 2018, the proposal was laid down to the School Head. She
approved the schedule, but she had some suggestions on the conduct of the events. She
reminded us of the intensive discipline of the students. Aside from that, she told the
subject coordinator to create some house rules and map for the designated areas of the
students per curriculum to ensure the success of the program. She also required all
teachers especially the advisers and all students in the Junior High School to participate
the said event.
By February 7, 2018, the English Coordinator had the activity proposal received
by the Division Office and the District Office. She also invited the Education Program
Supervisor in English Mr. Ronnie R. Sunggay, and the District Supervisor of Labangal
District Dr. Lilane M. Josol to be the speakers of the said event. Furthermore, she also
sent a communication letter to Police Chief Inspector Renato Terrado Salado of Police
Precinct 2 requesting him to send some police officers to secure the area while the
program is going on.
It was planned that we will just have the program conducted at exactly 10:00 in
the morning. The eliminations for the group contests depended on the teachers’
preference. During the actual program, only the top 3 sections per curriculum competed.
On the other hand, the Spelling Bee, which was administered by Mrs. Hazel R. Delfin was
conducted last February 7, 3PM at the Grade 7-SPA classroom. The winners were
Marvin II Babad of Grade 8-Einstein (Champion), Lenard Ortillano of Grade 8-Sampaguita
(1st runner-up) and Pearl Joy Antecristo of Grade 8-Einstein (2nd runner-up).
Meanwhile, the Quiz Bee which was administered by Ms. Ma. Ellyn B. Cole was
held last February 8, 2018 at the same time and venue. The winners were Jenny Denosta
of Grade 10-Aguinaldo (Champion), Galidel Mamigo of Grade 10-Galileo (1st runner-up),
and Heart Beldad of Grade 10 Galileo (2nd runner-up).
On February 9, 2018, the program started at 10:00 AM. It began with the National
Anthem and Invocation which were led by the L’yangan Choir. It was followed by a
welcome address given by the principal Mrs. Norma E. Pascua wherein she
acknowledged the efforts of the English Department and the students. She also
emphasized the objectives of the program and the impacts that it will bring to the school.
Her message was followed by an intermission number from the Dance students of Grade
7-SPA. After which, Ms. Mirajana C. Sanchez introduced the board of judges to the
audience. They were Mr. Stanlie E. Esportuno, Mrs. Jordan Faith C. Bastatas, and Mrs.
Merry Hope T. Espinosa. Before the competitions started, Mr. Esportuno, the chairman
of the Board of Judges, read to us the criteria of each group contest. He further
emphasized that the decision of the Board of Judges are final and irrevocable.
Since the invited speakers were not around that time, the group contests
immediately began. The first contest was Choral Reading which was participated by
Grade 7-Newton, Lawaan, Molave, and Narra, followed by the Reader’s Theatre which
was participated by Grade 8-Einstein, Sampaguita, and Daisy. On the other hand, the
Speech Choir Competition was participated by Grade 9-SPS, SPA, and Pearl. Lastly, the
Jazz Chant competition was participated by Grade 10-SPA, Galileo, and Juan Luna.
The next part of the program was the awarding of certificates to the Board of
Judges. Prizes were also awarded to the winners of the individual and group contests.
The results of the group contests were as follows:
Choral Reading
Champion – Grade 7-Newton
1st runner-up – Grade 7-Narra
2nd runner-up – Grade 7-Lawaan
3rd runner-up – Grade 7-Molave
Reader’s Theatre

The last part of the program was the acknowledgment which was given by the Ms.
Ma. Ellyn B. Cole, the subject coordinator in English. Finally, the program ended

conduct of the programs. Aside from that, participants should also be reminded to be
responsible of their props. They should bring it with them when they leave the area to
minimize the garbage inside the venue. Sanctions should also be given to students who
disobeyed any of the house rules. Most of all, the facilitators should also ensure that the
program will start and end on time.
