No pain, no gain

To succeed as an artist, talent is not enough. According to H. Murakami, this pre-

requisite needs two additional qualities: focus, or the ability to concentrate all the energy

available on the creative task; and endurance, or the disposition to perseverate in

everyday work beyond exhaustion. In this light, the creative process is a long-distance

track where discipline is the force that will take talent to the finishing line.
