Narrative Report on the Conduct of the

Earthquake Preparedness Drill

Bicao Elementary School had conducted an Earthquake Preparedness Drill on

February 21, 2018 at exactly 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon.

An orientation on “How to Conduct an Earthquake Drill” was conducted before the

drill. The pupils together with the teachers followed the instruction given. First the bell was
rang to signify an earthquake. The participants executed the “DUCK, COVER, HOLD”
position during the alarm phase. They were waiting for the alarm to stop before they
evacuated to the designated evacuation areas with the assistance of the teachers. A quick
headcount was conducted by the teachers in the evacuation areas. One participant was
assigned to bring the first aid kit during the evacuation phase. There were 170 estimated
participants during the drill. The participants remained there until further instructions
were given to let them go back to their respective classrooms.
There were evaluators coming from the LGU DRRM Team who observed during the
earthquake drill and they gave assistance and additional recommendations to strengthen
the preparedness during disaters. The earthquake drill was done successfully.
