PICTORIAL AND NARRATIVE REPORT ON 2ND QUARTER NSED


(NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL)
JUNE 20, 2019

Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that raised people died or injured. It
cannot be detected when and where it would be happened to anyone. This is the mostly
happened in places where people are hanging around and working. Earthquake is
understood by being a natural phenomenon caused by the constant movements of the
earth’s crustal plates and due to climate change too.

In connection to this, as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management System,


Macamot Elementary School conducted earthquake drill last June 20, 2019 at 2:00 in the
afternoon. It was actively participated by five hundred twenty-two pupils and facilitated by
17 teachers.

The drill includes an arrangement to facilitate control of people during disaster, such
as having enough exits. Clearly making routes to be taken in evacuating the building and
locating organizational personnel where they can take command and give calm, decisive
instruction at places where groups are likely cover.

Everybody was busy preparing their assignments on their respective area. However,
the pupils were also their daily routine. When the bell was heard by the pupils, they
responded to it immediately. They did the duck, cover and hold under a near study chairs
and tables.

Then after a minute, they formed their lines and went down the stairs in two’s going
to the evacuation area in brisk walking. When they reached the area, teacher in each class
did a headcount. After the drill all the students and teachers gathered in the school covered
court for some information given by the School DRRM coordinator. The drill lasted for 10
minutes. No untoward incident happened during the drill. And it was indeed a success.
