Narrative Report:

At exactly 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon, while the 1-minute ringing of bell
is ongoing (ringing of bell indicates earthquake/shaking. Learners and teachers will be alerted by
this signal.), everyone moved away from windows, glass and fixtures and performed the “duck,
cover and hold” under desks, tables and chairs. They remained in this position until the ringing of
bell (shaking) stops.

Once the ringing of bell (shaking) stops, teachers and pupils immediately evacuated
the school building and followed their pre-determined route to their respective evacuation areas.
Pupils were grouped together according to the class where they belong. Teachers made a head
count to check that all pupils were in the area.

After the drill a demonstration on proper use of fire extinguisher and first aid with
proper bandaging perform by school’s junior rescuer. Some parents and community people were
present to observe the proper and safe procedures before, during and after the earthquake.

The drill was conducted properly and the evacuation proceeded smoothly.
