This course will provide the student with opportunities and experiences to enhance developmental levels for skills, knowledge and
confidence to enjoy a life span of healthful physical activity. All learning experiences will be comprehensive of the NASPE and
Delaware Department of Education Physical Education Standards with realistic and achievable expectations for the student’s
performance. PE II will have slightly different activities and more of a focus on skill builders and testing (especially in fitness).

EVALUATION:
Daily Points (20 possible points per day) Attendance: 0 points when absent- You will be given the opportunity to make up absences.
Only counts against you after the third absence.
4pts; Preparedness (changing into shorts or sweatpants and wearing a non-collared shirt and wearing the proper footwear) must
change into clothes. We ask that students change to teach responsibility and for hygiene reasons: 4 points; Warm up (stretch &
jogging): 4 points; Cool down (when we have a cool down or wrap up I ask that students participate in the activity) If we have an
activity that takes us to the end this point total will be combined with the participation/main activity points. 8 points;
Participation/main activity (points given for being active during the main activity for the day; this can be worth 12 pts on days when
we do not have a cool down):
Additional evaluation points will be given for:
Written Tests/Quizzes
Homework (unit assignments, fitness applications and worksheets)
Performance and/or Skill Development Rubrics
Physical Fitness Tests
GPA (game performance evaluations)
In-class Worksheets (self-evaluation, peer evaluation, event tasks, logs, etc)
Health-related fitness test(s) (muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, cardiorespiratory, and body composition or BMI)

A 90 – 100% B 80-89 % C 70-79% D 60-69% F below 60%
Marking period is an average of all possible points/scores: It is averaged by TOTAL POINTS
Categories: Classwork & Fitness includes everything mentioned in daily points and will also include special fitness activities that we
do from time to time, Quizzes will be given at the end of most units, Extra credit will be given throughout the marking period to help
supplement your grade.
Final Grade for Course (half year)
Marking period average 45% X2 marking periods = 90%
Final Examination Grade + 10%
Total for Letter Grade 100%

PROCEDURES POLICIES:
1. Upon entering the gym, go directly into the locker room.
2. No more than 7 minutes allocated for changing clothing.
3. Remain in the locker room after changing until the teacher informs all students to exit and enter the gym.
4. Re-entry into the locker room is not permitted, unless authorized by the PE teacher due to emergency or approved early dismissal.
5. Upon entering the gym please start your warmup walk/jog.
6. A student not meeting the dress requirements will still be able to participate in all class activities.
7. The teacher will inform the class of the start of activity or practice session and use a whistle to discontinue activity
At the closure of the lesson or activity:
a. All equipment will be returned to the designated area in a safe and orderly manner
b. Cool-down and discussion will occur
c. The teacher will dismiss the class to report to the locker room

Locker Room Expectations
1. Lockers must be cleaned out prior to the start of Final Examinations. The Physical Education Department will not be responsible
for items left in or on the lockers after this deadline.
2. Sharing of a locker is not permitted without prior approval from the teacher
3. $5.00 assessment fee will be charged for a school lock that is not returned by the due date
4. A student may not enter the locker room throughout the school day except during his or her designated physical education period
5. Student Responsibilities and Appropriate Use of Equipment is expected of all students.
6. Dunking or hanging on the rim is considered inappropriate behavior
Inappropriate, misuse or damage to equipment may result in a monetary compensation by the student(s) responsible.
Tardiness
A student not in the locker room by the 2nd bell is tardy and will not be allowed to change for physical education if the class has
already entered the gym.
Consequences for Tardiness
1st offense (verbal warning)
2nd offense (parental contact)
3rd offense (referral)
Appropriate Dress for Participation (change of clothing; not wearing to school)
Acceptable clothing for physical education should be conducive for vigorous activity and meet the criteria set forth by the Student
Code of Conduct.
The following are acceptable:
T-Shirts (no tank tops or cut off sleeves)
Shorts (acceptable length; waist not below hips)
Sweatpants/sweatshirts
Sneakers
No boots, sandals, flip flops, cleats or crocs

* If a student is not prepared or participating on a regular basis than that will greatly impact their grade*
Absences
Since our class is highly dependent upon attendance an absence makeup is required after 3 excused absences. The student must complete before
the end of each marking period and do the required activity to makeup each class.
