Video Diary - Task Description

PRODUCT
1. Choose one of the following characters:
 Abdul
 Rosalia
 Cheslav
 Jonah
2. Video Diary: Create a 4-5 minute video diary from the perspective of one of the
characters in NO SAFE PLACE.

ROLE & AUDIENCE

3. Your video diary is found at a pivotal point in history and can influence the world as it
decides how to deal with the current Syrian refugee crisis
4. Present your diary in the persona of the character for 4-5 minutes. It should not go
over 5 minutes.
5. Talk about your:
 Life experiences
 Thoughts
 Interactions with other characters
 Hopes. What do you hope to achieve by telling the world your story through a
video diary?
 Background – growing up
 Frustrations
 Treatment during your time as a refugee.
PROCESS
6. BRAINSTORM IDEAS:
 It should be in point form
 Use EXAMPLES, EVENTS, and EVIDENCE from the text to support your
perspective
7. OUTLINE:
 Expand your brainstorm into an outline to include more detailed points;
 Use the structure and format of a diary entry
8. CRAFT DIARY ENTRY:
 Use your outline as the basis for your diary entries; You must submit
polished, typed, and appropriately formatted diary entries;
9. RECORD VIDEO DIARY
 Rehearse your diary entries
 Record your diary entries using one or more cameras
 If you use multiple cameras, edit the footage together

You will need to submit your video diaries on Managebac by Thursday.
