Students will learn how to successfully critique each others art works through completing this
graphic organizer. Please read the directions carefully before beginning the assignment.
1. Students will complete the graphic organizer by reading the “Teaching Students to
Critique” report found at https://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/educators/how-
to/tipsheets/student-critique.aspx
2. Students may choose to work with partner, although each student must complete and
turn in a graphic organizer handout.
3. Students will answer provided questions on the graphic organizer. These questions
include but are not limited to:
- Provide 3 acceptable descriptions of an art work.
- What is an interpretation?
- What are 4 major areas of art criticism?
- What is a judgment of evaluation?
4. After completing the graphic organizer, students will apply their learning through a class
art critique. Students will review each others art works after every one has displayed his
or her art work.
