This newsletter is really a reminder of
the events that are coming up in
school in the coming weeks. I know
how busy it is in work and at home as
we get nearer to the Christmas break.
I don’t want families missing out on
what is happening in school:
PTA Non-Uniform Day
We will have another non-uniform
day this Friday (30th Nov); this time we
are asking that you donate a bottle
which can be put on the bottle
tombola. Any full bottle is suitable –
the more variety the better! If you are
unsure about sending a glass bottle in
with your child, you are welcome to
leave this in the school office on
Friday morning in person.
PTA Christmas Fair
This will take place in school on Friday
7th December 5.00-7.00pm. There has
been a lot happening behind the
scenes to make this another
successful event. There will be stalls
dotted around the school from people
in and outside of our school
community – they will be selling their
Christmas gifts to you. Each stall
provides the PTA with a donation and
a prize; they are then welcome to be
in our school to help make the event
successful and provide variety to what
is on offer. Other activities run by the
PTA include games, refreshments and
Father Christmas will be meeting with
children to hear about all their
Christmas wishes (as well as get a
small gift).
Raffle tickets are also being sold –
these will be sent home in book bags.
There are some great prizes on offer
as well as a cash prize – good luck!
The PTA would like helpers for the
evening so that the work can be
shared out. Please get in touch with

Autumn Term 2018
PTA Bag2School Collection
Thanks to all your clothing donations,
we have an extra £140 for PTA funds.
PTA T-towels
Paper copies of the order forms have
been sent home in book bags after we
have had a number of requests for
these. Please note that last orders
need to be in this Friday.
PTA Purchases
It is important that you not only take
part in the great events organised by
the PTA – and I can assure you, this
school has a strong PTA with very
dedicated parents; the same cannot
be said for all schools – it is important
that you recognise the impact of your
kind donations. The school recently
purchased 15 new laptops for the
children (thanks to a sizeable
donation from the PTA). We now have
45 laptops for the children to use as
well as 15 iPads. This is a strong
resource for the children meaning
that we can now teach two or three
classes at a time (sharing devices) or a
class can be taught with everyone
having their own device.
Reception and KS1 Production
The children and staff have already
been practising hard for their
production. This will be shown to
parents on the 18th December at
9.30am and at 6.00pm. Tickets will
soon be available for this event. We
prepare tickets so that we can make
sure that all families have the
opportunity for seats with the limited
seating capacity that our school hall
has (even though it is a large hall, its
capacity is measured in the number of
escape routes it has in the event of an
evacuation). The children will also
have the opportunity to see the dress
rehearsal and the production will be
recorded with DVDs available to
purchase. The small profit that is
made on DVD purchase is used to
fund the production, props, music etc.
We do not sell tickets for this event.
Carol Service
Each year, two junior classes lead the
carol service, which we hold in St
John’s Church. Unfortunately, the
church doesn’t have the space for the
whole of the Juniors. This year, Y3 and
Y4 will lead the service. We keep the
service simple and thoughtful – a time
to listen to the Christmas story
through readings, songs and
movement. We welcome parents to
church for a 6.30pm start on 19th
December. The candles in church will
be lit and it is normally a lovely time;
as I often say: ‘Christmas starts here’.
Mrs Grattidge, as one of our
wonderful parent helpers, has worked
with children to produce some lovely
art work displaying an angel – this will
be on display in Church over the
festive period.
Reception and KS1 Reading Evening
Don’t forget, members of staff will be
leading an evening tonight
(Wednesday) to give information
about the reading that takes place in
school and how you can support this
at home. We look forward to seeing
you there and hope it will be a useful
meeting for you.
