Poppies and Remembrance
We will be selling poppies again this
year in school – I will be encouraging
the children to give at least 20p for a
poppy. Other items (wrist bands, pin
badges, etc) are also available to buy
for 50p, £1 and £2. These will be on
sale after the half-term holiday in the
days that lead
up to
Remembrance
Day.
As you may
have heard in
the media,
Remembrance
Day will now
also serve as a time to remember loss
following terrorism, as well as from
conflict. We will talk to the children
about this and we will be taking time
out of lessons in reflection and
thought. Weather permitting, we will
take the children onto the small
grassed area next to school where
there is a special bench that has been
placed to remember our fallen.
Parents and friends are welcome to
join us for a few moments of
reflection. This will take place at 11am
on Monday 11th November (if wet, we
will be in the school hall). More

Halloween and Bonfire Night
This week PSCO Nicola and PSCO
Imogen visited our assembly to
remind the children about being safe
at these two events this year. It is the
advice of the Police that children of
primary school age should always be
accompanied by an adult during ‘trick
or treating’. Attached to the
newsletter email is a poster that can
be displayed to indicate if you are
happy or not happy to have trick or
treaters on Halloween night. Please
pass on to your neighbours as you see
fit.

Head lice
We have had a few reported incidents
of headlice in the school. I know that
this is an ongoing battle, but it is one
that we need to keep trying to fight.
Whilst headlice cause no harm, they
are irritating and can affect children’s
well-being. The chemicals for treating
headlice are
becoming less
effective as they
are more
resistant to the
pesticide.
Combing hair
still remains a
really effective
method. Please
can we all have
an extra check during this coming
holiday to see if we can reduce the
risk of transference?
Yvette Fielding
We are excited to have Yvette visit us
next month. Don’t forget, if you would
like a copy of Yvette’s book, they can
be pre-ordered (I have attached the
order form again to the newsletter
email). Books can also be bought on
the day.
Parent Lunch – Come Dine with Us
I hope the Year 1 parents enjoyed
their ‘All-day Breakfast’ lunch this
week. Year 2 parents are welcome on
the 28th November and I can now
announce that we will have our
Reception Parent’s Lunch on Friday 6th
December.
Gin, Quiz and Auction
We hope you have your tickets ready
for this long-anticipated event! Thank
you for your support with pledging
items for the auction; this will soon be
opened on-line to receive your bids. A
few items will also be auctioned
during the evening.

Half-term holiday
We hope you have an enjoyable
holiday week as a family, enjoying the
festivities of this Autumn season. The
teachers return to school after the
holiday for a training day on Monday;
we look forward to seeing the
children back to school on Tuesday 5th
