TOPIC: Ship owning and operating leads to the presence of different risks for the ship owner.
Some of these are transferred to underwriters. This assignment requires the student to demonstrate
the knowledge, in the area of marine insurance, that will be applicable in covering these risks.

ASSIGNMENT: Assignment B
A ship owner is contemplating acquiring an oil tanker which will be operated by the owner. You
need to advise the owner on different marine insurance covers that the owner should take so that
his risks are covered. You need to prepare a document specifying the different insurances and their
coverage and salient points. While the document need not give all details, it is important that all
significant points are included.

TOPIC LENGTH: Main body of the paper, excluding tables, figures and references should be
approximately 1800 words.
