ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING & ENGINEERING DRAWING

Architectural drawing is a technical drawing prepare by architect. In civil engineering, civil

engineer design a building based on architectural drawing however architect must receive engineer
opinion before designing related building. Architectural drawing is a conceptual idea prepared by
architect used to convince the client and also as a guideline for engineer to design after client have
accepted the proposed architectural drawing. Architectural drawing are commonly consists of sets
of views (side view, plan view, front view), sizes of a proposed building, scale and cross-sections.

Technically, engineering drawing is a technical drawing prepared by engineer. Engineering

drawing does provide a full and clear definition on the engineered requirements required.
Engineering drawing was prepared based on engineering knowledge in which engineer will
determine the safety of the building based on set of calculations. In this modern era, engineering
drawing can be prepared by many types of engineering design software such as ESTEEM, ORION
and etc.

Commonly plan will be provided by architect in CAD software. Next engineer will design
based on the architectural drawing. Specifically architectural drawing put more concern on
aesthetical aspect and engineer is more concern on the safety of the building designed.
