Dear Sir/Madam:

Greetings of peace!

I, John Alvin M. Villanueva, belong to the Research Methods for Interior Design (ID 331) class under the
instruction of IDr. Diane Arnette A. Bacong this second semester of the academic year 2018-2019. As a
requirement of the course as well as a standard practice of our institute, I hereby present to you the
following title proposals:
1. MUSEUM IN FLUX: Employing Populism Theory in Creating a Convivial Environment: A
Proposed Renovation of Selected Areas of Museo Valenzuela in Filipino Industrial Style
− The purpose of the design is to challenge existing and out-of-date perception about
museums. It aims to negate the established image of museums as buildings built to portray
the same impression-a monotonous space meant only for an elite group of people. The
design intends to rest on the integration of a fused Filipino and Industrial style to implicate
wood and steel as a symbol of transition from traditional to modern design.
2. MUSEUM MEDIATION: Designing Spaces in Historical Context through an Immersive Interior
Environment Experience: A Proposed Renovation of Selected Areas of Museo Valenzuela in
Filipino Contemporary Style
− Stories is an integral part of our lives and narratives are present at all times and in all
places. With that in mind, this design aims to construct narratives in museum spaces to
convey history in a sensory, rather than a textual manner. The designer’s idea is to make
the museum the bridge or “mediator” between history and the people . The proponent also
plans on using the Filipino Contemporary style to invoke a common heritage shared by the
people of the community.
3. MUSEUM AS A MEDIUM: Enriching Engagement through Participatory Design: A Proposed
Renovation of Selected Areas of Museo Valenzuela, located at 2 Fatima Avenue, Valenzuela,
Metro Manila
− The proponent of this research intends to incorporate modern technologies to the design
and focus on how it can innovate the museum. The researcher believes that technology
incorporation will help in supporting learning-related activities in the museum. Furthermore,
the researcher views technology integration as a means of improving the audience
encounter and provide visitors with new experiences.
Also, the title proposal which you will suggest and/or endorse from the aforementioned proposals shall
constitute a comprehensive research work and a written thesis (Chapters I-III) which will be submitted to
my ID 331 adviser and will be presented to a panel of jurors for deliberation.

In this regard, may I request for your professional advice/suggestion and supreme expertise to assist me
in selecting the best proposal which would be of vital importance to my research preparation.

Any kind of help that you could extend will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Respectfully yours,

John Alvin M. Villanueva
