7. A Sample of wet soil has a volume of 0.0192 m3 and a mass of 32 kg. When the sample is dried out
in an oven, its mass reduces to 28.5 kg. Determine (i) Bulk density, (ii) Water content, (iii) Dry
density, (iv) Saturated density, (v) Void Ratio, (vii) Porosity, (viii) Degree of Saturation. Take the sp.
gr. of solids as 2.65.
8. Differentiate between:
a) Percentage Air Voids & Air Content.
b) Void Ratio & Porosity
c) Sp. Gr. of Solids & Mass Sp. Gr.
d) Saturated Density & Bulk Density.
9. Discuss about the various Effect of Compaction on the Soil Properties.
10. Write a note on the Consistency Limit corresponding to saturated water content.
