KINDS OF NOUN

a. Proper Noun
You always write a proper noun with a capital letter, since the noun represents the
name of a specific person, place, or thing. The names of days of the week, months,
historical documents, institutions, organisations, religions, their holy texts and their
adherents are proper nouns.
Example:
 Lisa
 Japan
 Kendari
 January
 Friday
b. Common noun
A common noun is a noun referring to a person, place, or thing in a general sense. A
common noun is the opposite of a proper noun.
Example:
 city
 country
 market
 shop
 day
c. Singular noun
Quite simply, a singular noun is a noun that refers to only one person, one place, one
thing, or one idea. If you look at one object and name it, you have an example of a
singular noun. For example there is one lamp on my bookcase and one chair at my
desk. In these examples the nouns lamp, bookcase, chair, and desk are all singular
because they indicate only one.
