Walk and Slow Walk Notes and Their Rests

Purpose: teach students recognize quarter notes and half notes, and their
corresponding rests
Musical and non-musical goals: know the quarter note and the half note and feel
the difference of their duration
Age group: elementary school students
Adaptations or additional activities: invited students to write a rhythm pattern
composed of quarter and half notes by themselves, and the class will play together
with clapping hands
Possible applications for special populations: braille music sheet may be used for
children with visual impairment
