Survey
2.1 PURPOSE
The Site Survey is to be used to determine site requirements for the most
optimal installation of your Empower Injector System.
Important!
Please complete and submit the Site Survey Check List prior to
requesting shipment of the Empower Injector System.
Access – Patient access to the gantry (left and right sides) must not be
impeded by the Injector system.
WARNING
Cables on the floor are a potential hazard and should not be in the
patient or hospital staff access path.
There are two types of Injector mounting possibilities: Floor Stand and
Overhead (Ceiling/Wall) Mount.
Important!
The customer is responsible for the installation of the Injector System
Ceiling Mount Column or Wall Mount bracket.
It is recommended that two (2) people perform the installation on the Injector
System Ceiling Mount Column.
The Customer must provide fasteners and anchors for mounting the Ceiling
Mount Column and Wall Mount Bracket:
Minimum Height – The minimum height of the bottom of the Ceiling Mount
Column should be 84”(7 feet) from the floor. The bottom of the Injector
should be a minimum of 36” (3 feet) off the floor. The minimum height of the
bottom of the Wall Mount should be 96” (8 feet) off the floor.

Instructions
3.1 INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
After the site survey form has been completed and sent to E-Z-EM, Customer
Service will review the form and the order will be entered in accordance with
the information provided on the form. The appropriate system and
accessories will be sent to the site.
It is the responsibility of the site to install the Ceiling Column or Wall Mount
Bracket for the Articulating Arm, Remote Wall Mount Bracket and to mount
the power supply assembly to the wall if required.
Note: Position of the Pivot Shaft (see Fig. 3-1b) is critical to the range of
motion (approximately 270 degrees) of the articulating arm. The pivot shaft
can be orientated in any position prior to securing the ceiling column to its
support structure. Select the pivot shaft orientation such that the resulting
range of motion best addresses the operational requirements of the site (See
Fig. 4-2).
2. Mark the locations of the holes by using the Ceiling Mount Column
drawing (see Figure 4-5). Drill mounting holes at the locations marked.
3. Install the Ceiling Mount Column using the appropriate fasteners and
anchors (NOT PROVIDED) (see Figure 3-1a). Ensure that the base of the
column is level.

2. Unsnap and remove plastic cover (A), plastic housing (B), and plastic
plug (C) (see Figure 3-2a).
3. Place the Wall Mount Bracket against the surface to which it will be
mounted. Mark the location of the holes by using the bracket as a
template (see Figure 3-2b).
5. Install the Wall Mount Bracket using the appropriate fasteners and
anchors (not provided). Replace the plastic covers and plug removed in
Step 2, above. Make certain that the bracket is level.
The Remote Control is typically table mounted in the control room in close
proximity to the scanner console. The Remote Control can also be mounted
on the wall in the control room.
A Wall Mount is provided for wall mounting installations. The Wall Mount
consists of the following three parts that require assembly:
To wall mount the Remote Control, install the wall mount bracket as follows:
a. Using the Remote Wall Mount Drawing (see Figure 3-4), mark four
hole locations on the wall.
b. Drill four holes into wall. Hole size is determined by anchor type.
Consult anchor manufacturer’s literature for recommended size.
c. Before driving in the anchors (if using anchors provided), push the
rounded end up into the sleeve as much as possible. Use a hammer
to drive in the anchors up to the top of the sleeve. Warning: driving
the exposed threads on the bolt may damage them.
d. Remove the nuts and washers. Place the Wall Mount Plate against
the wall then replace nuts and washers. Tighten nuts.
The Power Supply may be placed on the floor or may be wall mounted.
1. Remove the Power Supply and AC line Cord from the Injector package.
a. Using the Power Supply drawing (see Figure 3-3) mark 4 hole
locations on the wall at the center of each “+” cutout.
b. Drill mounting holes in the wall and insert the proper mounting
hardware such that the space between the wall and the bottom of the
head of the screw is 1/4”.
Note: Fasteners (not provided) must be rated for 30 lb. load, minimum.
c. Using a pair of pliers, remove the rubber feet on the bottom of the
Power Supply.
d. To mount the Power Supply, align the mounting screws with the
mounting holes and slide the Power Supply down. Insure that the
Power Supply is closely fit against the wall. If it is not, remove the
Power Supply and slightly decrease the distance between the head of
the mounting screw and the wall. Replace Power Supply.
Two cables are provided that are sufficient for most installations:
Important: You cannot connect two Remote to Power Supply Cables or two
Injector to Power Supply Cables together for the purposes of increased
length. Please make sure that the cables provided will be sufficient for the
installation.
