Fourth Grading Period

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. Identify the religious festivals celebrated all over the country throughout the year;
b. Design the visual elements and components of the selected festival through costumes, props, etc.;
and
c. Reflect on the importance of festivals in relation to their religious and cultural-life

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: Religious Festivals

REFERENCE: Music and Arts, Siobal et.al pages 253-264

MATERIALS: Laptop, projector, speaker, Audio and Visual Aids

VALUE: Makadiyos (God fearing), Makatao (Humanitarian), Makabayan (Nationalistic),


Makakalikasan(Nature loving) and Makabansa (Patriotic)

III. PROCEDURE

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
A1. Opening Prayer
A2. Warm-up exercise (Stretching)
A3. Checking of attendance, cleanliness and orderliness of the room

B. MOTIVATION
4pics in 1word (5minutes)
(The teacher will flash four pictures of per festival and the students should be able to identify
each festival.)

C. PRESENTATION/ DISCUSSION
C1. Present and define Religious Festivals through an activity.
C2. Play a video of different Religious Festivals for analysis.

D. ACTIVITY
Where and What?
The teacher will play a festival music while students are passing a ball, as the music stops, the
person who holds the ball will identify the religious festival and place of origin using a Philippine
map.

E. ANALYSIS
The teacher will present a video of different festivals and the students will be able to analyze
which among the festivals mentioned are the religious festivals and why?

F. ABSTRACT

The teacher will ask students to summarize the lesson by completing the sentences below:

G. APPLICATION
The students will be grouped into five and let them draw a colorful miniature costumes using the
human figure that the teacher will give to each group. They will write an answer to the question
“What is the main highlight or the reason that makes each festival unique?”
(10-15 minutes)
Group 1: Ati-Atihan
Group 2: Moriones Festival
Group 3: Santacruzan Festival
Group 4: Voyadores Festival
Group 5: Dinagyang Festival

H. EVALUATION
H1.Each group will present miniature costumes of their assigned festival and explain their answer
to the question “What is the main highlight or the reason that makes each festival unique?”
H2. Each group will evaluate other groups’ output using the rubrics:
