I. Objectives
At the end of this lesson students are expected to:
a. Identify the different festivals in the Philippines
b. Create their own mascara of Masskara festival
c. Explain the role and importance of arts in the Philippine festival

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Philippine Festival
Strategies: Computer Aided Instructions (CAI)
References: k to 12 arts for SHS and JHS Quezon City Philippine Group Inc.
Materials: Laptop, LCD projector, speaker, paper mask, glue sticks, candles, drawing and coloring materials,
feathers and glitters.

Values integration: creative, appreciation, cooperation

III. Learning procedure


 The teacher will Greet the students
 The teacher will check the attendance
 The teacher will have a short warm-up (inhale, exhale)
 The students will take their seats

Review:
a. Who among you here has an experienced in festival dances?
b. What are some Philippine festival you know?
c. How it is different Philippines festivals to modernized folk dances?

Motivation: The teacher will show a picture that showcase the different festivals in the Philippines
a. What can say about the picture?
b. What are festivals shown in the picture?
c. Does their festivals reflects their culture and traditions?

 The teacher will show a video on the different festivals in the Philippines through time lapse
video
Guided questions:
a. What can you say about the Philippines Festivals?
b. Why there are lots of festivals dances in the Philippines?
c. Where these dances originated?

Analysis
Activity: “FOUR PICS ONE WORD”
 Provide standards for the group activity

 Each group are given with envelop which therein are the different Philippine festivals and its name
 The group must find the correct name of the festival picture according to its costume
 Each group are only given 3-5 minutes to finish the task

b. As a group, what are your strategies in finding the correct name of each picture?
c. As the leader of the group, what techniques you made for groupmates to participate?
d. As the member of the group, what role did you play during the task?

Abstraction:
 The teacher will Show the lesson content
 The teacher will discuss the festivals in the Philippines with its names, origin and its costume/props

Application: The students will make their own props (headdress) from a certain festivals. It should be
colorful and attractive. The student will only be given 20 minutes to finish their work. Rubrics is used to
rate their output.
