Daily Writing #3

School book fairs have revolved around my childhood since I was in elementary school.
As I started to read, I was always looking for forward to the book fair so that I could view new
books to possibly purchase as I continue my reading and writing experience. These sorts of
experiences were always good ones because when me and my friends were young, we were
always looking forward to trying a new book. In elementary school and middle school, book
fairs were very popular because during those time periods reading was always fun. I feel like
going to these book fairs played a huge role in forming my literacy narrative because they always
have a variety of different books based on your reading level. Another reason why I feel that
book fairs played a huge role in sparking my literacy narrative is because there was a
variety of different books exposed to the children. It wasn’t the same as the library because
some kids don’t like the options that the library offers. Also, book fairs offer multiple
copies of every book. Most of the time, book fairs are very fun for children because they
can choose a book or two to read among their friends so that they can all read together as a
group. These sorts of experiences are what makes kids actually read in a fun way. I can say
this because these events are what made me want to read more in grade school.
