Daily Writing #4

The first time I ever used a computer was in Kindergarten with my teacher Mrs. Pratt. My
mom was also a teacher at my elementary school at the time, so every day after school I could
learn how to use a computer in her classroom. This sort of gave me an advantage over some of
the other children that were my age because I had my mom with me both in and out of school to
help me learn how to use certain technology. Technology has affected my literacy narrative in a
positive way because there were numerous websites online that taught me how to read and how
to write. This gave my mom a break and made it a lot easier for me do start learning by myself.
An example of how technology affected my literacy narrative in a positive way was a
website called Starfall. This was a website mainly for children in early grade school. The
website consisted of numerous activities, games, and lessons based on your grade level. I
played a lot of games revolving around how to structure sentences correctly. Usually this
would be a boring activity, but this website made learning fun and fast for me. While my
mom couldn’t help me, I was able to go above and beyond my grade level and never reach
a limit. I can say that this sort of technology sparked my motivation to want to read and
write in grade school.
