WEEKLY JOURNALS

Week Nine – Editing

EDITING

How did you find the editing The process of editing went really well I got a ruff edit
process? done before this week and have been colour
correcting all of the clips and getting the right music
that match the scenes.
I have also been trying to refine all of the effects that
have in my production to make sure that they are
following the gun propyl and don’t move to the wrong
place.

What skills did you have to learn/ Skills that I have learnt from this editing is that changing
develop during the editing the colour temperature really effects the way a scene
process? feels and how much tension there is in the scene
depends slightly what colour it is because if a scene is
really light and vibrant it just looks a bit happy and
doesn’t create any tension.
What I have also found out is how much the music
choice effects a scene because the ending scene to
my film went though a few different songs but the
more eerie the song that I choose the better that I
made the scene fell and created much more tension
to the run up to the big fight and then when the big
fight started the music changed to and epic power
instrumental to make the scene much more powerful
and impactful to the story.

Upload screenshots of the editing

process and explain what they
show.

In this screen shot above I am adding sound effects for

the first scene in the film of “Zak” who is a drug dealer
in the start of my production being stabbed by “Vince”
how thinks that zak is a terrible person.
The sound that I have added are body penetration
stabbing sound effects for when Vice stabs Zak.

In this screen shot to the left I am adding the gun fire

effects to the scenes for this I got some clips of a gun
and then preyed them so that I didn’t need to to do it
induvudly which would take ages and then frame by
frame track the shot so that the gun effect stayed on
the same place ad didn’t just float around the same
area.
What issues did you have to issues that I encounter while editing was that I was
overcome whilst editing? How did missing a few scenes from the start and the end of my
you move past them? film which made the film harder to edit because there
was a chunk missing from the story so I had to make
sure that there was a story being told in the film and
that people could understand what was going on at
that particular moment because if they had no idea
what was going then It would be really boring and
have no point.

Have you identified any scenes Yes I have identified a few scenes that need reshooting
which need re-shooting? Will you and shooting scenes that are missing.
be able to do this? There is a scene in the middle of the film where Robert
has a meeting with detective nelson and some of
there lines where not delivered poorly and is hard to
understand what they are talking about so I need to
reshoot but I do not have the ability to reshoot at this
point in time because it is way to late to now reshoot
scenes.
I also need to reshoot a scene at the beginning of the
film where Vince is on the phone to Robert you can
see me in the reflection of the glass beside Vince and I
need to make sure that I am out of shot so that you
can’t see me in the reflection.

Are you on track this week? If not, I am beside this week I still need to complete some pre
how far behind are you? planning and I need to write up this weeks weekly
blog.

What work do you need to I am going to to do it to night and over the weekend
complete outside of lessons to most likely on Sunday.
stay on track?

High Grade Tips

Evaluation & Reflection

● ‘reasoned decisions and inform the development of ideas’ – both your evaluation
and the weekly reflections above will clearly show both how and why your ideas
developed throughout the project
● ‘demonstrating clarity in thinking’ – all of the above plus very clear links between
your research, planning, idea development and the production of your poster and
film trailer
