This week you worked on your production
During my research phase I researched War of the worlds and found out
it’s the most famous radio drama so I tried to make my own version of
war of the worlds while also using one of the sounds as the tripods. This
was the main influence. I’d say it’s not as good as its very fast paced and
doesn’t have time for the audience to process what has happened but I
do build up tension between scenes when the robot comes in. I need to
improve on how paced it is and how long it is.
I think the strengths of my production is how I used the robot sounds to
create tension and the variety of robot sounds I used especially in the
final part of the drama. The background sounds of the wind create an
unsettling atmosphere throughout it especially when there is no
dialogue. The feedback I got from classmates were mainly about how I
used the sound to create tension and the way I used it different robot
sounds.
The weakness of this production was probably most to do with how it
was fast paced and some people couldn’t tell what was happening but
when I added narration it helped at a slight. How I directed the voice
actors wasn’t too well as they had two different tones of voice which was
my fault that I didn’t explain it well for them to understand. From the
feedback I got I should add longer narration and better dialogue to show
what they are looking at.
I did reach my goals in making this radio drama and made it kind of like
the inspiration which was war of the worlds. How I pictured it in my
heard was how it turned out. The sounds were perfect.
At the end of this unit I need to work on writing more especially when
analyzing. I’d say my strengths are how I plan my projects and
sometimes the result that comes after it. The practical faze of this I’m
happy with doing and with the right planning I can make an alright
production.
When it comes to filming I may need to work outside of college and
travel someone for a location to film. I work well in class for the writing
and research aspects of this course but if I were to work at home I
wouldn’t get a lot done. I definitely need to work more on my research as
sometimes I can’t find the right information and sometimes struggle to
wright a lot. I can do this by maybe staying back on lunch to finish off
writing and to research more but it does depend.
