Bill Gates has rightly said that The Internet is becoming the town square for the global

village of tomorrow. Internet certainly has immensely impacted the life of everyone and
it goes without saying that the youth makes the major proportion of the internet
population. It stands true for every country and India is no exception.

I am a firm believer of the statement that everything has its own pros and cons and
always yields a mixed result. I believe it also, holds good for internet. The amount of
good it has done for the society is huge. It is a perfect example for a mature society to
appreciate the positives and to not undermine the negatives.
In our daily life, right from the moment we open our eyes to the point we fall asleep,
internet is always with us or in other words, we revolve in and around internet. It is the
most powerful platform of the world. Youth relies on internet to gather information.
When I was writing this debate even I took the help of the internet to gather some stats.
Learning and sharing of knowledge has become so easy only because of internet.
(Pause 2 seconds)Gone are those days when you can only be connected to a
selected few. Reaching anyone has become so quick.
E-commerce has changed the way we have done shopping and I believe everyone
today is utilizing it the most. Shopping has become a matter of clicks and it is the
internet that has helped us achieve it and not to forget, the huge economy that exists
today only because of such a model. Roughly 76 percent of American adults
who use the internet believe it’s mostly good for society.
Now, lets talk about everyone’s favourite, i.e., Entertainment. Entertainment can
take various forms ranging from listening to music, watching movies to keeping a
tab on sports through the live streams and passionately supporting one’s favourite
team and from blogging, gaming to planning travel itinerary and learning foreign
languages and musical instruments, and the list goes on and on and on. What is
common to everything listed above is “Internet”. So Internet is not part of our life
but our life today revolves around internet. Internet is the biggest revolution we
have ever seen. It is that time when we put on our glasses and try to look at it as a
critic.
