The emergency shower and eyewash shall be supplied with process water. The
pipe lines shall be provided with electrical tracing and insulation to prevent freezing
of the water.
2 GENERAL
The equipment shall conform to all applicable codes and all necessary approvals
shall be obtained.
The international system of S.I. units shall be used.
Exceptions are:
pressure units in bar;
temperature units in ºC.
3 SCOPE OF SUPPLY
The scope of supply for the emergency shower and eyewash, without limitations:
1) Capacity of unit shall be suitable for using shower as well as eyewash at the same time.
4.2.1. The equipment and its appurtenances shall be designed for safe operation and
easy maintenance. Provisions, as are required to ensure personnel safety,
shall be supplied.
4.2.2. Proven design, carried out in carbon steel
4.2.3. Automatic functioning of the emergency shower and eyewash
4.2.4. The emergency shower and eyewash shall be designed to prevent growth of
bacterium (microbe) and Legionella pneumophila.
4.2.5. The piping work shall be in accordance with piping specification
4.2.6. The valves, strainers, sight glasses and gaskets shall be in accordance with
piping specification.
4.3 ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Emergency Shower System shall be equipped with earthing lugs on both
ends (diagonally opposite).
4.4 METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND SITE DATA
All bolt-holes shall straddle the natural centre lines (if applicable).
In case of external bolting, bolts have to be such a length, that the mounted nut
covers the complete length of the thread. The free effective end of the bolt thread
shall not exceed 2 thread lines.
The Emergency Shower support bracket shall be of fabricated steel and shall
extend the full length and width of the unit.
5 MATERIALS
Material selection: SS
Where stainless steel is used the quality of the steel shall be 316 due to the
marine environment conditions.
