INTAKE MANIFOLD; DRILLING AND draft
THREADING PROCEDURE, CNG PROJECT Fecha Elaboración

1.0 OBJECTIVE
This procedure was designed to drill and thread the intake manifolds as part of the
CNG production on MAV plant, following MMC recommendations for particles cleaning
on the reworked part.

2.0 REACH:
This procedure is for drilling and threading for both MMC and HMC intake manifolds
This procedure does not include disassembly or assembly of intake manifold from engine

3.0 PROCEDURE.

1.- Place intake manifold on working table.

2.- Install the drilling-threading facility on the


intake manifold and secure it with 2 bolts,
torque the bolts by hand using the adjusting
tool.

3.- Install the blowing cap over the throttle


body and 3 foam plugs on 3 admission ducts.
Please note that the admission duct which will
be drilled-threaded will be without plug.
Turn on regulated air on the throttle body
blowing cap (50 psi)

4.- Install the drilling guide on the admission


duct to be worked, drill with 5.2 mm drill.

5.- Change the drilling guide for the threading


guide and thread the drilled hole with 6mm
threading tool.

6.- Remove the foam plug of the adjacent


admission duct of the recently worked one and
cover the recently worked admission duct.

7.- Proceed with steps 4 through 6 until all


admission ducts are worked

8.- Remove the drilling-threading facility from


the intake manifold.

9.- Vacuum the intake manifold to be sure no


borings remain on the top

10.- remove foam plugs and vacuum the intake


ducts. Turn off the compressed air and vacuum
machine.

11.- apply one drop of thread lock compound to


the CNG nozzle

12.- Screw CNG nozzle by hand on the intake


duct.

13.- Using torque tool torque by hand caring not


to over tighten the nozzle

14.- Repeat 12 and 13 for all the intake ducts

15.- Final aspect of the intake manifold
