A balanced reading program

The teacher guided by the essential components in reading such as;

 Phonological awareness
 Phonics
 Sight words and vocabulary development
 Reading fluency
 Comprehension strategies
Phonics should be a meaningful and integrated part of the school reading
program, with ample opportunities for learning, application and solving learning
problems.

Teaching must be built on what students already know and give them space to
see patterns and draw inferences.

Some problems face by the students are:

Unfamiliar Vocabulary- very difficult for them to draw analogy.

Unrelated to their studies- extra burden and can’t help to solve learning
problems.

Intervention;

Application or explicit teaching skills and how to apply them in new texts is
essential activity.

Repeated reading

Reading of short, easy and interesting text over and over again to
improve comprehension.

Every student must have at least a pocket dictionary for them to easily find
out the words that is so difficult for them.
