δημαγωγός ποτε ὑπὸ τῶν Σαμίων ἐκρίνετο ἐν τῶι δικαστηρίωι, καὶ θάνατος ἦν ἡ
ζημία. ὁ δὲ Αἴσωπος ἀναστὰς οὕτως ἠγόρευεν·
‘Ἀλώπηξ ποταμὸν διαβαίνουσα εἰς φάραγγα κατέπεσεν, ὥστε πολλὰ ἔπασχε κακά.
οὐδαμῶς γὰρ ἐδύνατο ἐκβῆναι. καὶ δὴ καὶ ἀφίκοντο κυνοραισταὶ οἳ τὸ αἷμα αὐτῆς
ἔπινον. τέλος δὲ παρελθὼν ἐχῖνός τις εἶδεν αὐτὴν μάλα πάσχουσαν. ἤρετο οὖν εἰ τοὺς 5
κυνοραιστὰς ἀφελεῖν δεῖ. ἡ δὲ ἠρνεῖτο. τοῦ δὲ ἐρομένου τί ἐν νῷ ἔχει, “οὗτοι μέν,”
ἔφη, “ἤδη πλήρεις ὄντες τοῦ ἐμοῦ αἵματος ὀλίγον ἔτι με βλάπτουσιν. ἀλλ’ ἐὰν
ἐκείνους ἀφελῇς, ἄλλοι ἀφίξονται οἳ τὸ λοιπὸν αἷμα πιοῦνται.”
