LEARNING PLAN

GRADE 9
UNIT TOPIC HEAT, WORK, & EFFICIENCY

UNIT STANDARDS
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relationship of heat, work & efficiency.
The learners shall be able to analyze how power plants generate & transmit electrical energy.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners should be able to:
a. *define heat, work & efficiency;
b. *discuss the three (3) forms of heat transfer;
c. *solve problems involving heat, work & efficiency;
d. infer that heat transfer can be used to do work & that work involves the release of heat;
e. explain why machines are never 100% efficient;
f. explain how heat transfer happen in machines;
g. explain how heat transfer & energy transformation make heat engines like geothermal plants work;
h. construct a model to demonstrate that heat can do work;
i. *promote practical energy conservation activities.
