Mrs. Wright’s Policies, Procedures, and Expectations

Math

Weekly Study Guides: Weekly Quizzes:

Students are expected to complete
weekly study guides at home that will help
them learn study skills as they prepare
for their weekly, Friday, spiraled quizzes.
These guides will be turned in and
reviewed during students small group
time on Thursdays.
Students will take a weekly, spiraled
review quiz every Friday based on that
week’s study guide. These quizzes will
identify skills that students’ need
further clarification and practice on.

Graph Paper:
Students are required to use graph paper for all problems listed on the running “Must
Use Graph Paper” list, available on the fourth grade website and posted in the classroom.
If a student does not attach graph paper to these assignments, their work will not be
accepted until graph paper is attached with shown work. Students have graph paper
readily available in the classroom, printable graph paper is available on the fourth grade
website, and students should have extra copies in the back of their binders.

Science Notebooks

Science Vocabulary Study Guides: Math Notebooks:

Every two weeks, students are assigned
eight, academic vocabulary words. As a
daily warm-up, students will copy a
definition for one word each day in science
class. Students are expected to write one
sentence, and draw one picture each night
for that day’s assigned vocabulary word.
Study Guides are due at the end of the two
week period. A due date schedule is
provided on the fourth grade website.
These guides will help students learn study
skills as they prepare for their science
vocabulary quizzes.
Science Vocabulary Quizzes:
Students will take a science vocabulary quiz
on Fridays when Science Vocabulary Study
Guides are due, covering each assigned list’s
words.
Students take notes and complete daily
assignments in their math notebooks
regularly during class time. For this
reason, math notebooks are to remain
housed in the classroom unless the
student has approached Mrs. Wright
about “checking out” their notebook to
study at home for a brief, agreed upon
length of time.

 Grading Procedures
Late Study Guides:
Study guides are designed for the benefit
in teaching students study skills in
preparing for their weekly, spiraled math
quizzes and frequent science vocabulary
quizzes. If a study guide is turned in late,
it will be docked ten points as the student
was not able to benefit from its intended
purpose.
Late Daily Assignments:
As fourth graders still learning time
management skills, late daily
assignments are assessed on a case by
case basis. For example, if a student is
turning in assignments late due to illness
or absence, their grade will not suffer due
to tardiness. However, if the student is
frequently unable to turn in daily
assignments in a timely manner, Mrs.
Wright will arrange a conference time with
parents to discuss a plan to assist the
student in turning in assignments on
time. Repeat offenses without due cause
may result in points deducted from a
students work.
Missing Assignments:
Students must keep track of their grades
through the student portal, and parents
may help through the parent cloud.
Missing assignments will be identified on
these sites, and must be turned in by the
date specified by Mrs. Wright as the final
grading day in the semester.
Failed Assignments:
If students fail an assignment, they will
have the opportunity to fix and return the
same assignment for a 70. The
assignment must be fixed and signed by
a guardian by the final grading day in the
semester, announced by Mrs. Wright.
Communication
Phone vs. Email:
My phone number and email are
provided on the fourth grade website and
in the fourth grade handbook. Please feel
free to email me with any questions or
concerns you may have about your
students. The best method to reach me is
via email, as I do not answer phone calls
during my teaching time and my
voicemail system is tempermental.
Conferences:
I am more than happy to conference with
you about your student at any time.
Please email me with any requests, and I
will respond with a variety of dates and
times for you to choose from. To ensure
your student’s privacy, please make sure
to sign up for a private conference time
rather than discuss concerns during
times when children are around.
Returning Emails:
Generally, I am fairly punctual in
responding to parent emails, however,
due to limited planning time or possible
absence, I may respond to emails within a
day or two after initially receiving your
questions. If you have a time sensitive
message that must be delivered that day,
please call the front office.
